We were only there for the day and wanted to make the most of our time and fit in as much as we could (plus lunch!). Booking our tour ahead let us skip the INCREDIBLY long line and we were on the boat in no time at all. The guide was super informative and kept my kids attention with the history and knowledge that he had. I'd recommend a guided tour for anyone going, with and without Kids.

We caught an early tour, so it was just us and another small family - so it felt super intimate and it wasn't too busy at the falls or park yet. So it didn't feel crowded or anything. Our guide, Tony was great!! Very friendly and knowledgeable, and he had been a teacher for many years in Niagara - and you could tell - the way he gave the info was very upbeat and fun, and he knew so much about the area!! Nothing about the tour felt rushed or anything, got to spend enough time doing everything and enjoying it but still left feeling like we saw, we came, we conquered.

Nearby cities to explore

Niagara Falls, one of the world’s most powerful natural wonders, sits along the border of the United States and Canada—yet the Canadian side offers the most iconic views. Home to Horseshoe Falls, the largest and most impressive of the three waterfalls, the Canadian side features world-famous boat cruises, tunnels that take you behind the falls, towering viewpoints, lush parks, and vibrant entertainment districts. This page will help you compare tour options, understand key highlights, and find the best Niagara Falls, Canada experience for your visit.

What to expect on your visit to Niagara Falls

Up-close view of the Horseshoe Falls

The Canadian side offers the most dramatic vantage point of Horseshoe Falls, the largest of the three waterfalls, where nearly 90% of the Niagara River thunders over the edge.

Immersive experiences

Descend through tunnels behind the waterfall, cruise right up to its base, or soar past it on a zipline for thrilling aerial views.

Learn about the history of the area from a local perspective

Guided tours provide rich context about the Falls and the city of Niagara, sharing stories, cultural insights, and surprising facts as you move between attractions.

Day trips with transportation from Toronto

Choose a day trip for convenient round-trip transportation from Toronto, combining sightseeing, expert narration, and iconic attractions in one itinerary.

Discover nature trails and historic sites

Join a guided walk through serene island trails, lookout points, and viewpoints overlooking swirling rapids. Learn about historic events, see engineering marvels, and explore beautifully maintained park areas along the way.

Step into a revolving restaurant with an outdoor viewing deck

Skylon Tower features a revolving dining room and an outdoor observation deck 775 feet above the Falls, offering sweeping aerial views paired with a memorable meal.

Pro tips to help you make a pick

Some attractions are seasonal

Hornblower Cruises operate from April to November, and the outdoor observation deck at Journey Behind the Falls closes in winter due to icy conditions. Even so, winter visits offer stunning snowy panoramas and a quieter, more peaceful experience.

Round-trip transport = Hassle-free visit

Niagara Falls is about 84 miles from Toronto. Day trips make the journey seamless by including comfortable round-trip transport, guided sightseeing, and ample free time to explore the city on your own, perfect for first-time visitors.

Know the top attractions and how to visit them

The two signature experiences—Niagara City Cruises (Hornblower) and Journey Behind the Falls—are included in all our tours. To get more value, pick a tour that goes beyond these classics, especially if it’s your first time at the Falls.

Explore beyond the basics

Full-day tours combine guided sightseeing with free time, letting you explore Niagara city at your own pace. From Clifton Hill’s entertainment strip to scenic parks, wineries, and walking trails, there’s plenty to discover once the guided portion ends.

See Niagara from different perspectives

For the most comprehensive experience, choose the Ultimate Tour, which combines the Hornblower Cruise, a helicopter flight, and Journey Behind the Falls—giving you boat-level, aerial, and behind-the-waterfall views in one package.

Catch the Illumination of the Falls

Plan a late-morning or afternoon tour so you finish in time to enjoy dinner and then watch the nightly Illumination of the Falls from one of the many viewpoints around the city.

Add Skylon Tower to your tour

Instead of a regular meal, dine at Skylon Tower’s revolving restaurant, which offers unmatched 360° views of the Falls along with access to its outdoor observation deck. Choose a tour that includes Skylon Tower admission for the full experience.

Your Niagara Falls Canada tour options

Glide across the Niagara River on the iconic Hornblower Cruise, sailing right into the mist of the Horseshoe Falls. Enjoy open-air decks, up-close views, and a thrilling encounter with the power of the falls.

  • Duration: 20 minutes
  • Guided tour: Audio narration available
  • Transportation: Not included
  • Operating months: Typically April–November
