If you want the Patricia D. Klingenstein Library, plan weeks ahead. Library use has separate registration and appointment rules, and a museum admission ticket is not enough for reading-room access.

Families should confirm the DiMenna Children’s History Museum hours before booking. It is a compact, history-focused space that works best for school-age children, not a large play-based science museum.

Set aside about 1.5–3 hours for a general visit, especially if you plan to include DiMenna or a special exhibition. That timing also makes it easier to pair the museum with Central Park or the American Museum of Natural History nearby.
