What to expect

Karel Zeman Movie Tricks Museum

Step inside a museum dedicated to Karel Zeman’s creative journey, from his early animations and puppet films of the 1940s to his final masterpieces. Before you even enter, models from the films are displayed in front of the entrance, setting the tone for the experience.

Features

• Interactive exhibition areas, film sets, special effects, and hands-on activities let you actively participate rather than just observe. The exhibition is designed like film sets and studios, so you can film yourself using Karel Zeman’s signature special-effect techniques.
• Your ticket includes an online guide with additional information, which you can use on your device to learn more about each section as you explore. This complements the physical displays and helps you connect specific scenes to Zeman’s broader body of work.
• Iconic films feature throughout the museum, including Journey to the Beginning of Time, The Fabulous World of Jules Verne, and The Fabulous Baron Munchausen. You can ride the flying machine from The Fabulous Baron Munchausen, walk on the moon, or pilot the submarine from The Fabulous World of Jules Verne in dedicated interactive zones.
• Entry to the Karel Zeman Movie Tricks Museum is family-friendly and accessible, with the space fully barrier-free and wheelchair accessible. Audio guides, fun activities, and engaging games for children are available so different age groups can experience the exhibits comfortably.
• Displays of previously unpublished photographs, original puppets, and other archival materials document Zeman’s life and creative process. These quieter sections contrast with the interactive areas, giving you time to focus on the craftsmanship behind the films.
• With skip-the-line entry and a self-guided format, you decide how long to stay in each area and can keep your visit as brief or as in-depth as you like within opening hours.
