The National Palace of Sintra delivers a highly efficient historical overview located squarely in the town centre, bypassing the logistical friction of accessing the hilltop estates. The structure is distinguished by its functional 33-metre conical chimneys and serves as Portugal's best-preserved medieval royal residence. The interior layout follows a logical progression through distinct Moorish and Manueline architectural periods, with the Swan Room and Magpie Room providing clear examples of period-accurate tile work and ceiling artistry. Securing digital tickets in advance with Headout completely eliminates the entry queue, ensuring a low-friction start to the visit. Navigation is straightforward, though arriving at opening time is necessary to circumvent the tour group bottlenecks that impede movement. It is a dense, evidence-rich site that effectively communicates the chronological shifts in Portuguese royal history without the excessive time commitment demanded by the larger surrounding parklands

Tickets bought online and easy retrieval to present at the gate. Ensure you scroll to the ticket not just the receipt. The ticket says "This is your e-ticket" Wasn't too busy so got in 20 minutes before my timeslot. Go to the lineup and see if you can get in early. Don't wait till your timeslot if it doesn't seem to busy. Far more to see than just the intiation well. (But it was very cool, and amazing) A quite long line up way around the corner, but it moved very quickly. Almost didn't stop moving. 10 -15 minutes only to get in. Lots of elderly and kids in the well so it moves slowly. Plenty of time to take many photos. There were a few other hidden caves and steps that most people seemed to pass by. And many small staircases and pathways up and down the forest. Get off the main trails!! A very beautiful park!

It was an absolutely amazing tour. We arrived at the scheduled time, got in without any trouble—the line was very short and well-organized when we got there. We validated our tickets right at the entrance and went to explore the grounds. Quinta da Regaleira is a beautiful place, much larger and more impressive than I had imagined before visiting. It’s very well organized, well-preserved, with beautiful spots, and a great place to visit. I really enjoyed going into the cave and exploring the mansion; the entire property is absolutely charming. The trip was well worth it, and we took some great photos to keep as souvenirs of the place.

The ticket worked perfectly, and we even arrived before our scheduled time slot. The weather was cool and rainy, so not ideal, but Quinta da Regaleira is truly beautiful and well worth a visit. A great park, the Initiation Spring, a waterfall, and a grotto... the much-praised Palácio Nacional da Pena can’t hold a candle to it. My recommendation: Enjoy the Quinta to the fullest and skip the Palácio Nacional da Pena.

Got there 15 minutes early and were allowed to enter, which was perfect because we accidently bought for the wrong time. Got to the initiation well and although greeted by a line, the only line we experienced, it went by quickly and we were down the stairwell, mesmerized by the design and construction (and some wet feet). Definitely worth the visit. Please book your tickets online as people were being turned away due to it being sold out.

Quinta da Regaleira was absolutely stunning and one of the most memorable places we visited. I truly enjoyed exploring the different sights, especially the beautiful gardens, the labyrinth, the underground tunnels, and the incredible initiation well. Every corner had something unique and magical to discover. Even on a rainy day, the place was breathtaking and full of charm. It is definitely a must-see when visiting Sintra!

It really is a beautiful sight. Since we had reserved tickets, we were able to get in very quickly without having to wait in line. I went with some friends, and we all agreed that the gardens were the most impressive part. We truly believe it’s a must-see if you’re visiting Sintra. The only thing we all agreed on was that it would have been great to visit more rooms in the palace, since not many were open.

First of all, the entry time was strictly enforced, and there were no lines!!!! It was great to be able to stroll through the park and tour the villa without it being overly crowded!!!! The café was also extremely well-organized, and the service was lightning-fast!!!!

I thought it was an absolutely incredible place, full of history and magic. I felt like I was in a medieval movie, and we kept wondering how the person who designed that place had such an incredible vision—creating things that are beyond imagination.
  • This combo gives you access to two of Sintra's most iconic palaces: The National Palace of Sintra and the Quinta de Regaleira. Their proximity makes this the ideal booking for a tour of Sintra's best treasures.

    National Palace of Sintra

The National Palace of Sintra served as a residence for almost every Portuguese king and queen till the end of the monarchy in 1910. The first thing you’ll notice from a distance is its two conical chimneys and rooms, culminating centuries of Moorish and Portuguese history. The tour will take you through some of its most iconic rooms, including the Swan Hall, the Magpie Room, the Palatine Chapel, and the Heraldic Hall with its octagonal dome. Each space features intricate details from a variety of different influences.

    Quinta de Regaleira

The Quinta de Regaleira was built in the 20th century by António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, a wealthy Brazilian businessman. Walking through each floor, you’ll come across a mix of Gothic, Rainnaisance, and Manueline styles. A stroll through the gardens will lead you to an underground network of tunnels and an initiation well. Every corner is dotted with symbolism, and the tunnels also lead to a secret entrance that leads to the Initiation Well.
