These are incredible places—no description can truly capture just how unique the parks and buildings are. That’s why I recommend taking a guided tour of at least the Quinta da Regaleira. Sintra will also surprise you with its pastries and the kindness of the people you meet.

Hello. The palace and gardens are very beautiful. But the access system is deplorable, with ramps that are impossible for people with limited mobility to use. There’s an elevator that goes up to the café, and you can reach the entrance by climbing just a few steps—but oh no, when you want to leave, it turns out that elevator isn’t working because the café is closed. Going down the ramps, where people with tickets for their specific time slots are crammed together, is a nightmare. Not recommended—they should show a little more empathy toward older adults or children who want to see this gem; on top of that, it’s not even that cheap. They need to look into this. Thank you

I thought it was great how easy it was to buy the tickets and then see them appear in the app. The Pena Palace and the Quinta da Regaleira in Sintra are must-see attractions if you’re visiting the Lisbon area. If you take bus 435 to the Quinta and bus 434 to the Pena Palace, remember to be at the bus stop well in advance, since they can come very frequently—or you might end up waiting at the stop for 30 minutes. We arrived late relative to our ticket purchase time, but they didn’t give us any trouble getting in.

The Quinta da Regaleira has truly fascinating corners, like the famous initiatory well and its network of tunnels, but the overall experience is greatly diminished by the tourist overcrowding. It's almost impossible to enjoy the mysticism or the peace of its gardens when you have to wait in monumental lines just to take a picture or to walk the paths. Furthermore, the lack of crowd control makes a place that should be magical become a stressful and uncomfortable space to visit.

Both palaces and their gardens are truly marvelous. We especially liked the Regaleira Palace much better, with its caves, fountains, and the spectacular inverted well. As for the Pena Palace, it was a cloudy and foggy day, and the scenery wasn’t as striking as it would have been under clear skies. What I liked least was the massive crowd at the Pena Palace—it was a real shame. It was like lice in a seam. We didn’t enjoy it as much as we did the Regaleira Palace.

The tour of the palace was beautiful but too crowded; unfortunately, most of the park was under maintenance, so we weren’t able to enjoy it to the fullest. Be careful when buying tickets because there are no refunds. I made a mistake out of absent-mindedness on the day of one of my two visits and lost more than 100 euros, which I wasn’t allowed to recover even though I bought another ticket for the following day.

A very beautiful place with a fantastic view from the top of the palace. The only downside was that we didn't realize the time listed on the tickets was for the palace tour and that we could enter earlier to explore the rest of the grounds. Otherwise, it was a perfect tour—very shaded and pleasant. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Getting to the palace involves a bit of a walk with a steep incline. Once at the top, it was very crowded despite the time slots that had been set up. However, the palace is magnificent and the view is exceptional. It’s a must-see!

Pena Palace is stunning and the views from the various viewing platforms are spectacular. The walks in the garden are lovely and using the onsite app makes following the routes easy.
