The Quinta da Regaleira has truly fascinating corners, like the famous initiatory well and its network of tunnels, but the overall experience is greatly diminished by the tourist overcrowding. It's almost impossible to enjoy the mysticism or the peace of its gardens when you have to wait in monumental lines just to take a picture or to walk the paths. Furthermore, the lack of crowd control makes a place that should be magical become a stressful and uncomfortable space to visit.

The National Palace of Sintra is a stunning and very well-preserved monument. It’s a must-see. Quinta da Regaleira is an unforgettable experience. The architecture there is truly impressive.

The Regaleira Palace is incredible. Its history and gardens are spectacular. The National Palace would be even better if they offered a short guided tour included with the admission. Plus, it was under construction.

The places I visited are picturesque! Monserrate Park is fascinating for its complexity, beauty, and well-maintained grounds. Even though it’s a bit far from Lisbon, it’s worth a visit!

It's really beautiful—the carvings and details in the decor are all very nice—but I found it a little repetitive, almost as if every space, or every room, so to speak, were the same.

Sintra National Palace is a treasure. You can easily spend 3-4 hours here. 2 is an absolute minimum. You really get a good feeling of what the daily life of the royal family was like. The kitchen is a wonder in itself.
    • Double up on Sintra with one ticket covering two completely different palaces: one shaped by centuries of royalty, the other by 19th-century Romanticism.

    • Step inside the National Palace of Sintra and look for the Swan Room, the Magpie Room, and the magnificent Room of the Coats of Arms.

    • Spot the details that make the palace memorable, from 136 magpies painted overhead to heraldic symbols representing Portugal's royal and noble families.

    • Skip the regular queue at Monserrate and explore an exotic palace filled with arches, decorative galleries, the Music Room, Library, and more.

    • Use your multilingual audio guide as you wander through Monserrate's themed gardens, from Fern Valley and the Japanese Garden to Beckford's Waterfall.
