The Seagull Tickets

Actress in a dressing room with mirror reflections, preparing for "The Seagull" performance.

Duration

2 hr

Directed by Olivier Award-winner Jamie Lloyd and starring the incredibly popular Emilia Clarke from HBO’s Game of Thrones franchise, The Seagull promises to be a roaring hit at London’s Playhouse Theatre this March!

  • When a wealthy actress named Irina Arkadina pays a visit to her brother’s dilapidated estate in a sleepy hamlet, unfulfilled dreams and desires of all its residents are sharply exposed. Nina is a young girl in the estate who finds herself enamored with Arkadina’s lover Trigorin. She hopes to move to Moscow and become an actress. Arkadina’s son Konstantin is trying to become a playwright and attempts to take his own life when no one acknowledges his talent. Each of the characters in the play must navigate a maze of social blockades and relationships as they attempt to fulfill their aspirations.

Anya Reiss’ adaptation of Chekhov’s original masterpiece has been widely regarded as one of the best English versions of the play. She is amongst the youngest writers to have a play staged at London’s Royal Court Theatre. This production features Emilia Clarke, the immensely famous Game of Thrones star who has also acted in multiple blockbuster films such as Me Before You and Solo: A Star Wars Story. The cast is led by the celebrated Olivier Award-winning director Jamie Lloyd, who is well-known for his work on Harold Pinter plays.

I think the acoustic of the theatre was not good, too many noises from people drinking or eating, and I really had some difficulties to hear the actors ! I was very disappointed because Emilia hasn't gone away by the stage door as the others actors !!! I came from Italy to see her ! She could say just an "hello" 😓

Interesting production. Very unusual and very avant-garde! Quite different but in many respects a refreshing take on a Chekhov play. Made it more relevant for contemporary audiences and geared towards a more modern sensibility!

Everything was so great!! Such an experience! The theatre staff - they were present, giving guidance, efficient. The play, the directing, the cast - really extraordinary! Chekhov is not for everyone, challenging for non-Russians, but they did it great - well and originally presented, and the acting was fabulous! Thank you all for this unforgettable experience! Albena
