Watch three legendary ballet presentations that use classical dance as a medium to tell strikingly modern stories about love, lust, and life in today’s ever-changing world!
Why Watch Radio & Juliet | Faun | MсGregor + Mugler
Why Watch Radio & Juliet | Faun | MсGregor + Mugler
The first ballet, Radio & Juliet, is set to the brilliant music of Radiohead. It seemingly retells the tale of Romeo and Juliet from a modern perspective, but soon deviates completely from the original storyline. The ballet undermines the age-old trope of Romeo & Juliet and emphasizes the fact that romance has become a transient affair in today’s world. This ballet relies heavily on silky movements and its expressive variety and dynamism to explore themes such as sexuality and romance. The world premiere of McGregor + Mugler will serve as the crowning performance of the evening.
Slovenian Choreographer Edward Clug’s Radio & Juliet has been a tremendous success since its release in 2005. It will star the immensely accomplished ‘First Soloist’ of the English National Ballet Katja Khaniukova alongside the principal of the Mariinsky Ballet, Denis Matvienko. Winner of the Golden Mask theatre award Anastasia Stashkevich will feature alongside the principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Lopatin in Cherkaoui’s Faun. The final show features a much-awaited contemporary ballet by the famous choreographer Wayne McGregor and designer Manfred Thierry Mugler.
