    What our guests say

Did this tour with my partner and wow, just wow! Lava tunnel was like stepping onto another planet, so many cool rock shapes and colors, and our guide (think his name was Einar?) was hilarious. He told us stories about trolls and lava elves, which my boyfriend thought was silly but I LOVED it. Northern lights were a bit of a waiting game, but Palli (guide) kept us entertained. When the lights finally showed up, it was EPIC. Pro tip: bring extra socks, your toes will freeze. Hot choco at the end was a nice touch.

So the lights didn’t really show for us (clouds, ugh) but honestly the cave was still worth it. I’m not a geology guy but you can’t NOT be impressed down there. Our group was a bit big tho, so sometimes felt rushed. Still, guides were super friendly and even showed us how to use our phones for long-exposure pics. Would do again, just for the tunnel.

Okay so I RARELY write reviews but had to for this one. Did the tour solo, met a bunch of nice people. Lava tunnel guide (Francesca I think?) legit knew everything – she even pointed out these weird ice crystals that looked like dragon scales. Northern lights were late to the party but worth the wait. The bus was warm, thankfully, because outside was freezinggg. Btw, wear gloves with touchscreen fingers if ur gonna take pics. Would 100% do it again.

Family of four (teens 15 and 18), all loved it. The guides are what really make this tour. Palli was so enthusiastic and kept everyone pumped even when we had to wait a while for the auroras. The lava cave is way bigger than I thought, and not as claustrophobic as I feared. My husband banged his head once (watch ur step, lol). The hot chocolate at the end was a lifesaver.

Lights didn’t show, which was a bummer. Tunnel part was cool, though. Wish we’d had a little more time to wander, felt like we were kinda herded through. Staff were nice and gave us tips for taking photos in low light. Would try again if I get back to Iceland but not sure I’d do this exact combo.
