Kyoto Early-Morning Walking Tour of Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle and Kinkaku-ji

Explore Kyoto's Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, and Kinkaku-ji on a guided early-morning tour before the main crowds arrive.

Getting started

Meet your expert guide at the designated starting point for your selected option, either the Standard rate or Group tour booking category. After a brief introduction to the morning route and logistics, you set off promptly so the tour reaches the first landmark before the city gets busy. From here, you follow your guide between sites on foot and by public or local transport arranged at your own expense.

What to expect

Fushimi Inari

Fushimi Inari Shrine is your first major stop, so you can experience its paths in the quiet morning light. This is where you encounter the iconic vermilion torii gates with fewer visitors around. Your guide leads you to key viewpoints that work well for photos and orientation.

Features

• Long corridors of vermilion gates create a clear route up the hillside, and the early start helps you capture crowd-free photos of these recognizable passageways.
• An expert guide is with you at this first stop, pointing out significant areas within the shrine and explaining how the morning timing shapes the atmosphere.
• The morning tour format is designed so you visit Fushimi Inari before the main crowds arrive, keeping movement through the paths more relaxed.

Nijo Castle

You continue on to Nijo Castle, known for the Shogun's palace and unique interior features. Arriving earlier in the day gives you space to focus on details that are easy to miss in heavier traffic. Your guide sets expectations for where you will spend time within the complex.

Features

• Inside Nijo Castle, your guide draws attention to the Shogun's palace and its famous "nightingale floors," which are known for their distinctive creaking sound that once served as a security feature.
• A professional guide is included for this part of the tour, helping you navigate the castle areas efficiently so the morning schedule stays on track.
• This stop is part of a linked morning route that covers Kyoto's "Big 3" bucket list items efficiently while still allowing you to move at a comfortable pace.

Kinkaku-ji

The final highlight on this route is Kinkaku-ji, often referred to as the Golden Pavilion. Reaching here while the sun is still relatively low lets you view the building as it reflects on the surrounding pond. Your guide structures the visit so you can take in the main viewpoints before wrapping up.

Features

• Kinkaku-ji stands beside a landscaped pond, and in the morning light you can see the Golden Pavilion reflecting on the water, which is one of Kyoto's most photographed scenes.
• Your included professional guide stays with the group at Kinkaku-ji, answering questions and keeping the Standard rate and Group tour participants on the planned schedule.
• This final stop completes a morning tour that visits Fushimi Inari, Nijo Castle, and Kinkaku-ji before the main crowds arrive, using either the Standard rate or Group tour booking category as per your selection.
