What to bring

Carry your admission ticket along with an original, valid government-issued photo ID. Photocopies are not accepted.

Guests traveling on a Kamaʻāina or Active Military ticket should also bring a valid Hawaiʻi or U.S. Military ID to confirm eligibility.

Wear your swimsuit beneath comfortable clothing and opt for supportive walking shoes, as you’ll encounter moderate walking during the experience.

Pack a towel and a fresh change of clothes so you can dry off and change before boarding your return transportation.

Bring your beach-day essentials, including reef-safe sunscreen, drinking water, snacks, a credit card for cashless purchases, and a light jacket for the air-conditioned vehicle.

What’s not allowed

Leave alcohol, glass containers, large tents, oversized coolers, and non-reef-safe sunscreen behind, as these items are prohibited at Hanauma Bay.

Smoking, vaping, and e-cigarettes are not permitted anywhere within the bay.

Pets cannot enter the preserve, with service animals being the exception.

Protect the marine environment by avoiding contact with coral, never feeding fish, and leaving sand, rocks, and other natural items where they belong.

Accessibility

ADA-accessible restrooms and pathways are available, although the sandy beach terrain may restrict wheelchair access in some areas.

Guests requiring ADA assistance should submit their request at least 48 hours before the scheduled tour.

Keep Hanauma Bay’s Monday and Tuesday closure schedule in mind when selecting your visit date.

Reservations open on the 1st of each month for service dates in the following month.

Plan for moderate walking throughout your visit, particularly around the preserve.

Make sure you are completely dry before getting back on the vehicle for your return transfer.

A short educational safety video is mandatory for all visitors. If you’re traveling with Roberts Hawaii, you can complete this requirement during the ride.

Snorkel equipment rentals are available at Hanauma Bay and require payment by credit card.

Lockers, restrooms, showers, and changing stations are available for use during your time at the preserve.

Your Honolulu Zoo ticket does not include transportation, so arrange your own travel to and from the zoo.

Bring a credit card for rentals, concessions, and other purchases, as cash is not accepted.
