When your time at Hanauma Bay comes to an end, make your way back to the designated pickup point to reboard your motorcoach. Allow enough time to dry off, change into your extra clothes, and collect your belongings before boarding the vehicle for your return journey to Waikiki.

What to bring

Bring your original, valid government-issued photo ID for verification, as photocopies are not accepted.

Wear your swimsuit beneath your clothes and pack a fresh change of clothes to put on before the return journey.

Carry a towel so you can dry off completely after your time at the beach.

Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the experience involves a moderate amount of walking.

Bring reef-safe sunscreen to stay protected from the sun while helping safeguard the bay’s marine ecosystem.

Pack your own water and snacks, as food and beverages are not provided at the preserve.

Keep a credit card handy for snorkel equipment rentals and other purchases, as cash is not accepted.

What’s not allowed

Leave alcohol, glass containers, large tents, and oversized coolers behind, as they are prohibited at Hanauma Bay.

Do not bring or use non–reef-safe sunscreen; only reef-safe options are permitted.

Smoking, vaping, and the use of e-cigarettes are prohibited within the preserve.

Pets and other animals are not allowed, except for service animals.

Accessibility

ADA-accessible vehicle requests must be made when booking, with at least 48 hours' notice before your scheduled tour.

Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available in the main areas, although the natural terrain can make reaching the beach difficult for some guests.

Additional information

Plan around Hanauma Bay’s regular closure on Mondays and Tuesdays when choosing your visit date.

Reservations become available on the 1st of each month for dates in the following month.

Be prepared for moderate walking throughout the experience and wear clothing and footwear suitable for the conditions.

Make sure you are completely dry before boarding the vehicle for your return trip.

Protect the preserve’s fragile marine habitat by avoiding contact with coral, never feeding fish, and leaving natural items where you find them.

Snorkel equipment can be rented at beach level, with credit card payments required.

Lockers, restrooms, showers, and changing stations are available for visitor use during your time at the preserve.

A short educational safety video is mandatory for all visitors. Guests traveling with Roberts Hawaii can complete this requirement during the ride.

Your ticket is issued on the vehicle after you have watched the safety video and cannot be picked up separately at the kiosk.

You must travel on the designated vehicle to use your ticket; otherwise, you forfeit the ticket and will need to enter through the public standby line.

If you are staying outside Waikiki, arrange your own transportation to the designated pickup location.

Be prepared for possible parking fees at the designated pickup points.

Kamaʻāina and Active Military guests must present valid identification at pickup. Eligible guests may receive free Hanauma Bay admission, but transportation and other extras are not included.
