What to bring

Bring a valid original government-issued photo ID, as photocopies are not accepted.

Wear your swimwear underneath your clothes for an easy transition to beach and water activities.

Choose comfortable walking shoes, as you’ll need to cover a moderate amount of ground during the experience.

Pack a towel and a change of clothes, and make sure you are completely dry before boarding the return vehicle.

Carry reef-safe sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun, along with a lightweight jacket or cover-up for cooler or windy conditions.

Bring water and snacks to keep refreshed during your visit, as these are the only food and beverages permitted inside the preserve.

Carry a credit card if you plan to rent snorkel equipment or make other cashless purchases during your visit.

Guests with Kamaʻāina or Active Military tickets should bring a valid Hawaii or US Military ID to verify their eligibility.

What’s not allowed

Alcohol, glass containers, large tents, and oversized coolers are not permitted at Hanauma Bay, so leave these items behind.

Only reef-safe sunscreen is allowed within the preserve; do not bring or use non–reef-safe alternatives.

Smoking, vaping, and e-cigarettes are prohibited throughout Hanauma Bay.

Pets and other animals are not allowed inside the preserve, except for service animals.

Help safeguard the bay’s delicate ecosystem by never touching or standing on coral, feeding marine life, or removing shells, rocks, plants, or other natural items.

Accessibility

Guests who need an ADA-accessible vehicle must request one when booking, with at least 48 hours' notice before the tour.

ADA-accessible restrooms and pathways to the lookout are available, although the natural terrain may limit accessibility to the beach.

Additional information

Hanauma Bay is closed every Monday and Tuesday.

Reservations open on the 1st of each month for visit dates in the following month.

Expect a moderate amount of walking throughout your Hanauma Bay experience.

You must be fully dry before boarding the vehicle for your return journey.

Snorkel equipment rentals are available at beach level, with payment accepted by credit card only.

Every visitor must watch a short educational safety video before entering the bay.

Guests traveling on a Roberts Hawaii vehicle can watch the mandatory safety video during the transfer.

Tickets are issued exclusively on the vehicle after the safety video and cannot be collected from the kiosk.

If you do not board the designated vehicle, your ticket will be forfeited, and you will need to join the public standby line instead.

Guests staying outside Waikiki are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the designated pickup location.

Parking fees may apply at the designated pickup locations used for this experience.

Every Kamaʻāina or Active Military ticket holder must show a valid ID at pickup.

Kamaʻāina and Active Military discounts are available only to eligible guests and cannot be extended to accompanying non-eligible visitors.

Eligible Kamaʻāina and Active Military guests receive free admission to Hanauma Bay, but transportation and additional extras are not included.
