Tanju was an amazing guide, he took us at a quiet time that allowed us to really take in the Hagia Sophia , and was full of knowledge that he was keen to share am with us about the history of turkey, Istanbul and how it all relates to the building. It made for an extremely interesting tour!

I was lucky enough to be the only visitor on this tour with Abdullah as my guide. Abdullah made everything very interesting and answered all my questions fully. The Hagia Sophia is under renovation at the moment and I feel a bit over priced, when you could queue and enter for free if praying. Maybe other tourists knew this! It doesnt detract from how excellent Abdullah is and how much i enjoyed the excursion

Great to see the Mosque. It is so busy you can barely move so once in it is static. The guide was great and funny but with so many people around you have to focus to hear everything. The audio system was good. The queue to get in, with tickets, is about 30 minutes so be prepared to wait.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Very pleasant. Always available. Both sites are definitely worth seeing, both inside and out—especially the gardens of the Blue Mosque. It gets crowded early in the morning.

It was very easy to get to the meeting point. Our guide was really fun and friendly. His Westernized name was Arthur :) It was an experience I highly recommend for seeing the region’s iconic landmarks and learning about the culture and history of this incredible country.

We didn't have to queue and visited with an audio guide in our language. The guide we met at the agreed meeting point was very kind and downloaded the audio guide and ticket onto our cell phone.

First, the site was really not interesting or pretty to see, specially when you take into account the price. The guide was late and had to leave early, his english was not best and we weren't all able to hear him speak

Accessibility

Hagia Sophia is partially wheelchair accessible with ramps and special access to the ground floor only. The upper floor is not accessible.

Additional information

Due to ongoing renovations, certain sections of the interiors may be obstructed by scaffolding.

Women must cover their hair, shoulders, and knees, while men must cover their shoulders and knees. Scarves and cover-ups are available at the entrance.

You can bypass the ticket lines, but security checks are mandatory. Security lines may take up to 30 minutes and up to 60 minutes during peak season (June to August).

The ground floor is designated for prayers, while the second floor is open to visitors.

During the five daily prayers, certain areas are restricted to tourists. Hagia Sophia is closed on Fridays from noon to 2:30 pm for the Friday prayer.
