Does the Amsterdam Go City Pass let me skip the lines at attractions?

The pass generally lets you bypass the ticket-purchase line but not security or main entry queues. You still may have to wait to enter, especially at popular museums and canal cruises during peak hours or weekends.

How and when is my Amsterdam Go City Pass activated?

Your pass activates the moment it’s first scanned at an included attraction. An Explorer Pass then stays valid for 30 days, while an All-Inclusive Pass runs for the specific calendar day(s) you chose, expiring at midnight on the last day.

Do I need advance reservations for attractions with the Amsterdam Go City Pass?

Some included activities, especially popular museums, tours, and canal cruises, require a pre-booked time slot even with the pass. The Go City app clearly marks these and explains how to reserve. Turning up without required reservations can mean no entry despite having the pass.

Can I visit the same attraction more than once with my pass?

Normally, your pass includes one visit per attraction. Once it has been scanned and you leave, re-entry usually isn’t covered and would require a separate ticket. A few venues may allow same-day re-entry on their own rules, but not as a pass feature.

Is the Amsterdam Go City Pass the same as the I amsterdam City Card?

No. Go City is a private attraction pass focusing on bundled admissions and some tours. It does not include public transport. The I amsterdam City Card is run by the city and combines access to transit with a different museum list.

What happens if I don’t use all the attractions or days on my pass?

There is no refund for unused attractions or days once the pass is activated. Any remaining entries on the Explorer Pass or unused calendar days on an All-Inclusive Pass simply expire at the end of the validity period, so realistic planning is important to get the most value out of your pass.

Can the list of included Amsterdam attractions change after I buy the pass?

Yes, Go City can add or remove attractions over time. The current list in the Go City app or website is the live reference. If a specific attraction is essential, check just before purchase and again before visiting. Don’t buy a city card if you're only planning to use it to visit one attraction.

What if the QR code on my Amsterdam Go City Pass doesn’t scan at an attraction?

Ask staff to try again and adjust screen brightness or zoom. Having a printed backup or screenshot helps if the app glitches or data is slow. If scanning still fails, contact Go City support.

Does the Amsterdam Go City Pass include public transport or airport transfers?

No, the pass is for attractions, cruises, and selected tours only. It does not cover GVB trams, metro, buses, trains, or airport transfers, except where a specific shuttle (like Keukenhof) is explicitly listed as an attraction inclusion.

Will I definitely save money using the Amsterdam Go City Pass?

Savings depend entirely on how many and which attractions you visit. You tend to benefit most if you use the pass to visit several higher-priced museums and tours. Choosing mostly cheaper sites or offbeat attractions can mean paying roughly the same, or even slightly more than normal ticket fares.

Which Amsterdam Go City Pass is right for you?

If you want to see as much as possible in a few days: Go City Amsterdam All-Inclusive Pass

Choose the Go City Amsterdam All-Inclusive Pass. This day-based pass (1–5 consecutive days) lets you visit as many included attractions as you can fit in, from big names like the Rijksmuseum and Heineken Experience to canal cruises, A’DAM Lookout, ARTIS Zoo, windmill and Keukenhof shuttle tours. It works best if you plan 3–5 stops on your active days and want convenience more than micro‑planning your itinerary. To use it, download the Go City app, sync your All-Inclusive Pass, and scan the QR code at each attraction.

If you want to visit just a few top attractions on a budget: Go City Amsterdam Explorer Pass

Pick the Go City Amsterdam Explorer Pass. This attraction-based option lets you choose 3–7 experiences over 30 days, such as a canal cruise, A’DAM Lookout, the Moco Museum, Madame Tussauds, or other mid- to high-priced sights. It suits travelers who want flexibility, have a medium-length stay, and prefer quality over quantity while still saving big compared to buying separate tickets.

Activate either Explorer Pass by scanning the digital pass at your first attraction, then continue scanning for each remaining entry within 30 days.

Tips to use your Amsterdam Go City Pass smartly

Download the Go City app before arrival, log in, and save your Amsterdam pass offline so QR codes work without mobile data.
As soon as you buy, open the app’s “Reservations” section and pre-book canal cruises or windmill tours for your exact sightseeing days.
Activate your pass early on a full sightseeing morning. Late-afternoon first scans waste calendar hours, especially on the 1-day All-Inclusive Pass.
Start days with big-ticket museums or the Heineken Experience, then add shorter attractions nearby so you comfortably reach 3–4 scans without rushing through your plans or compromising on visiting top sights.
Group attractions by area (Museumplein, canal belt, Noord) to cut tram time and queues, so you can squeeze more value from each active pass day.
For families, buy passes only for adults and older kids who will join most attractions. Toddlers can enter free at most places.
Treat the pass as prepaid entry, not a VIP line. You will still queue for normal security and boarding at busy museums and cruise piers.
Screenshot each QR code and carry a printed copy so barcode problems or a dead phone battery don’t block you at the attraction entrances.
In peak months, check the app the evening before for opening hours and any attraction changes to your itinerary so you can swap plans without losing a scan.
Before traveling, review the Go City Amsterdam pass instructions in the app or official guide for the latest booking rules, attraction list, and usage terms.
