Super guided tour by Fran. Very informative. Well worth doing. We loved the Forum & Palantine Hill. The Coliseum has to be seen to be believed. We visited the Forum & Palantine Hill again later in the day to see the parts that the tour hadn't covered. This is possible if you have the Full Experience ticket.

Last week
We had booked a guided tour in French. Three days earlier, we were told we would have to use an audio guide because the guide wasn't available. My phone glitched while installing the app. I couldn’t install it. In the end, my husband and I had to share the audio guide. Earbuds weren’t provided. It was a mixed experience because we didn’t get the detailed explanations we’d hoped for when we booked a live guide. We were a little disappointed. Still, the sites are definitely worth exploring!

You will enter the iconic monument from the newly-opened Gladiator's Entrance, giving you a unique vantage point of the Colosseum. This allows you to slip past the long lines at the main entrances and enter from the back. Marvel at the impressive architecture as you walk past the Arena Floor, just like the gladiators who stepped out there for fights to the death. The partial reconstruction of the arena floor gives you a stunning view of the tiered ruins from where up to 80,000 spectators once cheered on for these gory fights.

Unfortunately, the Colosseum Arena Floor is not accessible by wheelchair.

You will be given a brief introduction to the history of the Roman Forum and the most famous monuments before visiting them on your own.

At the Colosseum, please use the priority entrance line on the left for the mandatory security check.

You can only enter on the date and time you choose when booking this experience.

What's not allowed

For safety and security reasons, no large backpacks or pieces of luggage are allowed inside the Colosseum. No storage facility is available.

Due to steep, uneven floors baby strollers are not allowed. A baby carrier is a more practical alternative.
