what to expect
The Majestic Doge's Palace
When you come into Venice from the sea, the first thing you see of this island is the unmistakable silhouette of the Doge's Palace. Having been the seat of political and administrative power of the Venice Republic from its birth to its end, the Doge's Palace also known as the Palazzo Ducale is a statement to the splendor of the La Serenissima (Venice). It has 3 fundamental roles: the seat of the government, the house of justice, and the Doge's residence. A visit to Doge's Palace will open your eyes to the rich and lavish art, history, and relics of ancient Venice. It boasts an array of Renaissance masterpieces, grand staircases, opulent rooms, and monumental entrances, all of which will leave you enthralled beyond words.
The Three St. Mark's Museums
After this awe-inspiring visit, explore 3 museums in St Mark's Square, the Museo Correr, the Archeological Museum, and the Monumental Rooms at the Biblioteca Marciana, and lose yourselves to the beauty of this city, its fascinating history, and culture.
The Seven Civic Museums
If you've chosen it as an option, your ticket will grant you entry into seven civic museums in Venice, apart from the three St. Mark's Museums. There is history packed in every corner of the Civic Museums. Tour Ca 'Rezzonico, now the Venice Museum of the 18th-century. See the Palazzo Mocenigo - the museum of fabrics and costumes, and visit Casa di Carlo Goldoni, the official residence of the Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni. Admire modern art at the elegant Palazzo Ca Pesaro, which stands on the banks of the Grand Canal in the San Polo district. The Glass Museum displays Roman artifacts and the largest historic collection of Murano glass, whereas the Lace Museum documents the art of lacemaking in Venice from the 16th to the 20th centuries. Located in the Fontego dei Turchi, the Natural History Museum's mission is to research and monitor the Venetian lagoon and its fauna.
