From Madrid: Segovia & Ávila‎ Full-Day Trip

Both cities are beautiful. Truly amazing—a real trip back in time. The trip was well organized, but it really is a bit rushed to see both cities in just one day. The only problem was the terrible sound quality on the bus. With so much background noise, we couldn’t hear what the guide was saying very well, neither in English nor in Spanish.

My kids enjoyed the bus ride the most. Our guide never slowed down to take in the sites. When we got to lookout points that you'd want to stop and appreciate, she kept walking. Inside the alcazar, she was very knowledgeable. But continued room to room, again leaving little time to explore it. I think there was still 1/3 of the alcazar we didn't see. When we were by the aqueduct and allowed some free time to explore and have lunch, we were told to meet back at 1:30 to meet the bus. But, most of the restaurants don't serve lunch until 1p. So you feel like you don't have time to enjoy the better restaurants bc you won't finish by 1:30. Having said that, the bus didn't show up until 1:45. In Ávila, I thought our tickets were going to get us in to see the cathedral (the description said so). We all huddled under a small tree trying to escape the sun, hearing about it from outside. But never seeing more than the exterior. The views from the walls was nice, but it was just a 200-300yard section. If possible, would just find a way to get to Segovia. Ávila probably not worth it. And I don't think the guided tour is necessary. Could've been time better spent at either the Prado or Reina Sofía museum.

How easy it was to book the tour, the punctuality at the start and throughout the entire excursion, the guide’s attentiveness, and the quality of the information provided. All of this made our trip truly memorable and left us with wonderful memories.
