This was my second time seeing The Lion King, and I loved it just as much as the first time. The music was outstanding, the colours and costumes were beautiful, and every actor gave an amazing performance. The atmosphere in the theatre was fantastic from the moment the show started. One of my favourite parts was seeing the animals make their entrance through the audience, which was truly magical. Even though I was sitting in one of the last rows, I could still see everything very clearly and never felt too far away from the stage. The seats offered a great view and the sound quality was excellent. It was definitely worth the money, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting London. Next time I might choose seats a few rows closer, but honestly it is not necessary because the experience is amazing from anywhere in the theatre.

"König der Löwen" in London zu sehen- einfach toll. Die entspannte Atmosphäre im Lyceum theatre, die mega Kostüme, so voller Fantasie, die Bühne kraas wandelbar. Man war total in der Geschichte drinnen. Die zwei Stunden sind im Flug vergangen. Jederzeit sofort wieder!!!! Im Theater gibt es einen cloak room, um Rucksäcke, Regenschirme etc abzugeben. Man kann - anders als in Deutschland- Essen und Trinken mit ins Theater nehmen. Da kontrolliert niemand die Taschen. Die Buchung über Headout war easy und hat problemlos geklappt.

Oh my god, it was incredible. I laughed, I cried and I was awe struck by the powerful voices of the mufassa and rafiki characters. The set design was fascinating and I loved the costume design. I've seen Hamilton as well as 6 different Shakespeare plays on the west end, and while I loved them all, none have been as imaginative as this. I was also really pleasantly surprised by the view from my seats as it said a restricted view when I booked my ticket

We've seen a performance of The Lion King 3 times in different venues over its 37 years and it has evolved magnificently. Our 6 year old grandson absolutely loved it. He said what he liked the best were the actors - and in his words "they were amazing". My husband and I enjoyed the evolution of the humor and references to modern songs, etc. The costumes, lighting and scenery were also spectacular. What a joyous way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

I watched The Lion King in London and it was absolutely fantastic. The performances were incredible, the costumes and scenery were stunning, and the music was amazing. Every scene was beautifully done and kept me engaged from start to finish. It was one of the best theatre experiences I've ever had. I would definitely love to watch it again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting London! 🦁🎭

Historien

På The Lion King i London følger man den unge Simba, som flygter efter sin fars, kong Mufasas, tragiske fald i det afrikanske Pride Lands. As somebody from outside UK, the Lyceum Theatre is what I imagined a West End theatre to be like - stone carvings, grand auditoriums and private stall boxes at the side. The atmosphere in the Lyceum Theatre alone sets the tone and expectation for me for future West End productions. On the production itself, the Lion King is a masterclass of a big production done right - elaborate puppetry, seamless sets and actors who bring their characters to life. One of the defining moments during the play would be *spoilers* Mufasa's fall *spoilers. Combined with the background music of "He Lives in You", you feel and empathise with the loss Simba feels. Unique to my experience was also a puppet malfunction where one of Timon's hands was stuck. However the actor persevered on and it took awhile to notice the malfunction, testament to their acting chops. I was seated at Row B in the Grand Circle and didn't feel like I missed out on anything. Perhaps as a point of improvement, there are binoculars for rental at 1GBP. However these are coin operated which I didn't have. If there was a way for the binoculars to be rented in the future using cashless, I would be inclined to try and rent one out.

A couple of technical issues caused the show to be halted twice. This caused quite a few in the audience to go for a toilet break. It was a very warm day and the show was packed a little more cool air would have made it more comfortable. The costumes for this show are the real stars especially the giraffes. Some great performances from a solid cast both older and younger Nala I found particularly engaging. Far from the best show I've seen but well worth a look if you like the story. Be careful in the aisles you just might meet an elephant.
