Spent a rainy afternoon here with my sister and didn’t regret a second. The Erwitt photos are just hilarious and touching in equal measure (the dog one!!). Museum vibe is super chill, and the view from the cafe is honestly EPIC. We stayed way longer than expected, just people-watching and sipping coffee. Bit crowded around 3pm but still found spots to linger. Staff was friendly, even told us which exhibit is their fave. Def coming back next trip.

Cool spot if ur into photography or just wanna try something diff. We came as a couple, got there around noon, wasn’t too busy. Some of the exhibits felt a lil repetitive but there’s always at least one that really gets you thinking. Cafe food’s not cheap but tasty, and the view is NUTS. Wouldn’t bring young kids unless they love photos, tbh.

Fell in love with the whole place. The exhibitions are so varied, you can tell a lot of care goes into the curation. I visited with my parents, and even my dad (who usually hates museums) was impressed. Try the cinnamon bun upstairs if you can – it’s ridiculous. No photos allowed in some spots, which was a bummer, but I get it.

Went here with my bf on date night, and it was actually suuuper romantic. The lighting, the art, all the little details. We had wine in the cafe after (they start serving at 6, in case ur wondering). It did get a bit busy after 7, though. All in all, very happy we spent the evening here.

Went with my mum, who’s a total photo nerd. She was in her element! I liked the portraits best, but some of the abstract stuff went right over my head. Staff made us feel welcome, and there was a nice buzz in the air. Watch out for the steep stairs if you’re clumsy like me!

Fotografiska puts some of the most compelling photography being made today in front of you across four floors of a beautifully preserved 1906 customs house on Stockholm's waterfront.

Getting started

Make your way to the main entrance on Stadsgårdshamnen 22 and present your voucher to gain entry. Once inside, pick up the current exhibition guide at the front desk, which maps out what is showing on each floor and helps you plan your route through the building.

What to expect

The exhibitions: Fotografiska runs multiple large-scale photography exhibitions simultaneously, with a programme that rotates throughout the year across all four floors of the building.

Explore works from some of the most recognised names in contemporary photography alongside emerging voices from the Nordic region and beyond.

You'll find a mix of large-scale installations, print series, and multimedia work that varies significantly in scale and format from floor to floor.

The building and additional spaces: The 1906 customs house is a destination in its own right, with the waterfront setting adding a distinct character to the visit.

The museum store stocks photography books, art prints, and design objects connected to the exhibitions and featured artists

The on-site restaurant and café offer dining and drinks with views over Stockholm's waterfront.
