Access was really quick and easy, thanks to the advance reservation made through Headout. Unfortunately, some structural elements inside have been secured with metal supports. It’s a real shame, but we hope it will be restored to its former state for the public.

There was a line, but at least we didn't have to wait to buy tickets—Mos really sped things up. Although there are more beautiful mosques. It's full of cranes and scaffolding, so you can't really appreciate its grandeur.

Honestly there was no line, very smooth entry on the right side of the building. Be aware that downstairs is not allowed for tourists. Don't confuse the entrance. The security made sure that people didn't block the passages. We came with our baby, on a carrier because strollers are not allowed indeed. So plan ahead. All in all we enjoyed it.

Admission was very easy and there was no waiting. But it was somewhat disappointing that only the galleries were accessible, and even then, access to the edges of the galleries was restricted. Structural work is being carried out with large scaffolding in the center of Hagia Sophia. The admission price is excessive for what you get to see.

The tickets weren't working. We had to send a message to get the right ones. Fortunately, a staff member at the basilica helped us out. I was a little disappointed with the visit, too, since the basilica is undergoing renovations both inside and out, and we couldn't access the main area.

Wear comfortable shoes as there will be some walking involved.

Bring a light jacket or sweater, as the cistern is underground and may be cooler than the outdoor temperature.

Flash photography is not permitted inside the cistern.
