Did you know?

Park Güell was supposed to be an exclusive housing development, but when nobody wanted to buy the lots, Barcelona accidentally scored one of the world's most amazing public parks instead.

Those stunning mosaics covering the famous Dragon Stairway? They're made using a technique called "trencadís," the art of breaking tiles into pieces and reassembling them into patterns.

The Gaudí House Museum, designed by his architect-friend Francesc Berenguer, is where you can peek into the master's personal life, complete with his furniture and belongings.

Check this out! The Hypostyle Room boasts 86 Doric columns, and each one is slightly different and tilted at unique angles to support the massive terrace above. Structural engineering that looks like art.

From failed real estate project to UNESCO World Heritage Site—now that's what we call a major glow-up. Park Güell stands as the ultimate testament to Gaudí's game-changing architectural vision.

Why visit Park Güell?

Gaudí's wonderland

Get ready to have your mind completely blown! Every mosaic-covered structure and quirky architectural detail will make you feel like you've been transported to the most magical theme park ever created.

Sweeping views of Barcelona

The climb up Carmel Hill is totally worth it for these jaw-dropping panoramic views. From up here, you'll catch Barcelona's skyline, the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, and iconic landmarks like the Sagrada Família all in one epic vista. Your camera roll will thank you.

Nature and art

This isn't your typical city park—it's where lush gardens and green spaces get a Gaudí makeover. His artistic elements blend seamlessly with nature, which'll leave you feeling zen and energized at the same time.

Historical significance

Did you know? Park Güell started as a fancy gated community project in the early 1900s. When that didn't work out, Barcelona got lucky, and it became the public park we all get to enjoy today. Talk about a happy accident with serious cultural significance.

The Dragon Staircase

You absolutely cannot leave without saying hello to the mosaic-covered salamander, aka the "dragon," on the main staircase. This vibrant little guy has become Barcelona's unofficial mascot, and his intricate tile work is seriously mesmerizing. Fair warning: everyone wants a selfie with him!

I really enjoyed the tour of the cathedral, but the best part was that, thanks to this website, we were able to buy tickets a few days before our trip—something that’s practically impossible. We’re very grateful to the organizers (HeadOut). Inside the Sagrada Família, the stained-glass windows create an incredible play of light. There isn’t a single straight line—everything is very soft and unlike anything else. You have to see it at least once in your life.

Experience Park Güell with Dex

The Park Güell Dex experience is an interactive self-guided tour available exclusively with selected Park Güell admission tickets booked through Headout.

Put on your earphones and follow a story that unfolds across the Monumental Zone and the paths above it, connecting the mosaic salamander and the serpentine bench with the viaducts, columns, and stonework that most visitors walk past on the way up.

Historical and fictional characters lead you through stories of Eusebi Güell’s plan for a housing estate that was never finished; Gaudí’s use of trencadís broken-tile mosaic; the Hypostyle Room built to collect rainwater; the stone viaducts shaped like the hillside they cross; and the gatehouses at the entrance, accompanied by original music and immersive sound design.

How Dex guides you through the park

  • Dex uses your phone’s location to guide you along a recommended route covering the entrance pavilions, the dragon stairway and salamander, the Hypostyle Room, the Nature Square and its curved bench, and the viaducts and paths above.
  • As you reach each location, it automatically begins the story connected to what you are seeing.
  • The route is only the starting point. When a mosaic, a column, or a stone arch catches your attention, pause and ask your Dex guide a question. Photograph a supported mosaic, structure, or architectural detail to uncover more about it, open a related story, or return to the route when you are ready.
  • Dex also points you towards recommended viewpoints, photo spots, and the paths above the Monumental Zone that many visitors never reach, with views across Barcelona to the sea. You decide when to pause, where to go deeper, and when to continue.

How Dex differs from an audio guide and a group tour

An audio guide gives you a collection of prepared recordings. Dex builds those stories into a location-aware route, automatically connects them to what is around you, and lets you ask questions or investigate supported objects along the way.

A group tour gives you live interpretation from a human guide while following a scheduled departure, shared route, and group pace.

Dex offers a different experience: a structured tour that you can begin when you choose, pause whenever something interests you, and explore at your own pace. Choose Dex if you want the direction and storytelling of a guided visit with the freedom to explore the park independently.
