We easily got from the Budapest market area to the baths, scanned our tickets without any hassle, and then headed to the cabin area to change and start enjoying the indoor and outdoor pools. A very good experience. Highly recommend!

A pleasant experience in a very beautiful setting. Very disappointed with the interiors, which are very old and uninviting; the facilities (toilets, showers) were catastrophic. Nowhere to change except in front of everyone unless you get a cabin.

The Széchenyi Thermal Baths pleasantly surprised us. We arrived at 8:00 AM when there was almost nobody there, so we were able to see and enjoy the facilities almost all to ourselves. As the hours went by, it got quite crowded, but even so, we could still use the outdoor and indoor pools and saunas without any issues. It is very beautiful and relaxing. We stayed until 2:00 PM—6 hours that we made the absolute most of—and if we could have, we would have spent the whole day there. 100% recommended!

I went to Széchenyi the biggest Thermen of Budapest . I had a locker and the man working there saw from my twist which number I had. The water felt very hot, somehow like 38° or more, but it was about the same as the weather, 23° I expected to see steam coming from the water, but that's only in autumn and winter, I suppose. Beautiful side baths, and beds to lay on in the sun.

We arrived at 2:00 PM, and the reception was quick. Once inside, we went to the changing rooms. Immediately after, we headed to the thermal pool; the water was perfect. Another positive note was the saunas.

What to expect

Opened in 1913, Széchenyi Spa is Europe's largest thermal bath complex, famed for its Neo-baroque architecture and healing mineral waters sourced from natural hot springs.

3 outdoor pools: Relax in the thermal pool, swim laps in the swimming pool, or enjoy the experience pool with jets and massaging water features.

15 indoor pools: Choose from pools of varying temperatures, designed to help with relaxation and wellness.

Sauna & steam rooms: Access multiple saunas and steam cabins to detox and enhance your wellness experience.

Locker or private cabin: Store your belongings securely in a locker or opt for a private changing cabin for additional comfort.

Want to save time and avoid entrance crowds during the rush hours? Opt for fast-track entry, available in morning or afternoon time slots, to skip the main queue and gain direct entry to the spa.

What to bring

Bring along your swimsuit, towel, slippers, and a swimming cap for the experience.

It is mandatory to wear slippers throughout the spa area. Swimming caps are required in swimming pools but not in thermal baths.

What's not allowed

Due to venue restrictions, pets cannot tag along for this experience.

This experience is restricted to guests under the age of 14 years.

Additional Information

On Saturdays, the venue opens at 8:00 AM, so plan your arrival accordingly.

Due to scheduled maintenance, the swimming pool will be closed from April 20 to May 17, 2026.

Renovation work will take place at the entrance stairs from Állatkerti Street between May 4 and July 12, 2026.

The swimming pool side locker room area will be under renovation and converted into a coed locker room between July 29 and August 6, 2026.

The staircase sunbathing area will undergo renovation from August 31 to October 11, 2026.

The women’s thermal section will be closed for renovation from December 7, 2026, through November 2027.

The pools and surrounding areas must be vacated 20 minutes before closing.

Last entry is permitted up to one hour before closing time.

If you select the fast-track entry ticket, make sure to enter the spa before 11am or after 3pm for guaranteed immediate entry.

Your ticket allows one-time entry only and cannot be reused for re-entry.
