Getting into the venue was a breeze, especially with the digital “skip-the-line” tickets. The atmosphere at the entrance is truly surprising—we step into another world, dark and steeped in mystery. Then, paintings with very warm colors and in perpetual motion are revealed, reinforcing this sense of immersion in the artist’s works, accentuated by the reflections on the water’s surface. The only slight downside was the almost suffocating heat, which forced us to leave the venue sooner than we would have liked.

This immersive experience at the Bassins des Lumières was enchanting. After going through the massive wildfire in Gironde—with the evacuations, the suffocating smoke, the stress…—I felt the need to escape from that reality. The Bassins des Lumières took me on a multisensory journey, allowing me to discover Matisse’s work in 360°. Magnificent.

Very easy to get to, the crowds were totally manageable, and it was a magical experience. I went there with three teenagers who really enjoyed themselves. It was sublime.

The cistern area, where the same program was projected as in the submarine tanks, particularly inspired us. The more comprehensive and immersive view of the smaller space allowed us to notice more details than in the large tanks. The subtle video animations accompanying the artworks were a pleasant surprise that enriched our experience of the exhibition. I went in feeling a bit skeptical but curious, and came out quite enthusiastic. I discovered paintings by Frida Kahlo that I had never seen before. Thank you. As a resident of Lorient, this gives me ideas for the graphic design of our submarine base, complementing its current use as a base for offshore sailing races.

Like all the other exhibitions I've attended, the atmosphere was perfect, and the paintings and photos selected were very fitting, as was the background music. It was a very soothing feeling of total immersion! 💖💖 The only downside was the lack of headphones in various languages for Matisse’s narration. International visitors weren’t able to fully appreciate this magnificent show!
