We had a warm welcome at the entrance, with a smooth flow. No long queues. There is also plenty of room inside the auditorium, which allows you to move around to see everything from different angles without bothering anyone. With my children, we loved the workshop where we could color and make our drawing appear on the wall.

The “Renaissance” show at the Atelier des Lumières is truly impressive. You can see works of art by the great masters projected onto the walls, accompanied by music. It creates a magical atmosphere that transports us back to the Renaissance era. The venue is perfect for this type of show, and it’s an experience not to be missed—whether you’re visiting alone, as a couple, or with your family. It’s a wonderful experience for anyone who loves art!

We really enjoyed the exhibition—the images were stunning, and the music was perfectly chosen to accompany them—but there was a lack of context provided for the works. There was a very interesting general commentary, but it would have been nicer to also have, at least for the works that remain on the walls a little longer than the others, a brief explanation of the subject, the sources of inspiration, the model(s), etc., as the works scroll by—which is certainly a delight—one after another with no further commentary beyond the remarks, though interesting, that are general in nature regarding the artists and the context. If the idea is, among other things, to try to persuade audiences who do not usually visit museums that it is worth going, it would be good for them to have more contextual information about the artists and the circumstances in which the works were created.

It's good, but it drags on a bit. Usually, the programs last 30–35 minutes, which is a good length that lets you watch the program several times from different angles.

A magical and deeply moving moment. We were truly impressed by the beauty of the artworks, accompanied by wonderful music. The texts were also very informative!! I love this place—it has such a serene atmosphere.

Younger visitors can head to the included Children’s Workshop to color marine animals, scan them, and watch their creations appear on the Studio walls.

Getting started

Arrive at Atelier des Lumières at 38 Rue Saint-Maur and present your ticket for your selected time slot. Once inside, enter the immersive space and begin your descent through Ocean Planet's changing underwater environments.

What to expect

Ocean Planet: Immersive Dive Into the Depths

Ocean Planet takes you on a progressive journey through the ocean, beginning near the surface before descending toward the deep abyss. Instead of viewing marine life through tanks or screens, the experience surrounds you with large-scale digital environments across the Atelier des Lumières.

Features

Coral reefs: Begin among colorful coral gardens and rays before moving gradually into deeper marine environments.

Deep ocean: Descend into bioluminescent abyssal landscapes and encounter large-scale representations of ocean giants and lesser-seen marine life.

Immersive technology: 3D modelling, ultra-high-definition projections, light, and smoke effects transform the venue into a 360° underwater environment.

Scientific collaboration: The experience was developed with oceanographers Lisa Brenot and Maé Dany-Fort, combining immersive storytelling with ocean science.

Children’s Workshop: Younger visitors can color marine animals, scan them, and watch their creations come to life on the walls of the Studio.

What’s not allowed

Strollers are not permitted for safety reasons; the venue recommends using a baby carrier.

Suitcases, travel bags, and bags larger than 40 × 30 × 20cm are not permitted.

Pets are not allowed.

There are no lockers, cloakrooms, or luggage-storage facilities at the venue.

Accessibility

Atelier des Lumières is fully accessible to visitors with reduced mobility.

An elevator provides access to the mezzanine.

Accessible toilets are available.
