Why visit Anthropology Museum?
Plan your visit
Main entrance
The National Museum of Anthropology has one main entrance, located along Paseo de la Reforma inside Chapultepec Park. It's a wide, accessible pathway with ramps and spacious walkways that accommodate wheelchairs and strollers. Security checks happen right at the entrance, so it’s best to arrive a little early. There's also a large central courtyard once you're inside, which helps with orientation.
Last entry is usually around 7:30pm, but you’ll need at least 2–3 hours to properly explore the museum. On Sundays, entry is free for Mexican citizens and residents, which means it can get extremely busy. Try to book skip-the-line tickets if you’re visiting on a weekend or public holiday.
You’ll find clean restrooms, a café, a bookstore, and lockers for small bags. The museum also has shaded seating areas in the courtyard where you can rest during your visit.
The museum is fully wheelchair accessible. Ramps and elevators are available, and most exhibits are easy to navigate. Wheelchairs can be requested at the entrance, subject to availability.
