Visiting the Uffizi was the undisputed highlight of our trip to Florence, as its collection of Italian Renaissance art is unmatched anywhere in the world. Impressive Art and Architecture Viewing Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and his “Primavera” up close is simply a breathtaking experience. In addition to the magnificent works by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael, the historic building itself is impressive, offering a spectacular view of the Ponte Vecchio from the upper galleries. Be sure to book online tickets with a fixed time slot in advance to avoid the extremely long lines at the entrance. Plan on spending at least two to three hours, as the museum is huge and features a wealth of exhibits. Choose your time of day wisely: A visit early in the morning or in the late afternoon ensures a much more relaxed experience in the main galleries. For art and history enthusiasts, this gallery is an absolute must-see and worth every penny of the admission fee.

The meeting point with the staff member was easy to find. The staff member gave us our printed tickets and provided clear instructions. We were able to visit the dome, the crypt, the baptistery, the bell tower, and the museum. We were able to do so at our own pace, taking breaks between each stop. There was also a luggage storage service for backpacks, which was included. We used the audio guide, and it was great. With three teenagers, it wasn’t too long or too boring. The commentary during the guided tour was relevant and interesting, allowing us to learn more about what we were seeing. I highly recommend it. The only minor downside was that we would have liked to have been better informed about the dress code required to enter the cathedral (shoulders covered, shorts and skirts at knee length).

We split the day up with lunch in between. Good thing too as it's a lot of walking. Be prepared for lots of steps at the Uffizi (there are lifts). Crowds are unavoidable (we went at 10:15am) but not too excessive. Some amazing art and history I'm glad we visited. The Accademia was smaller and to see David in all his splendour was magnificent. I don't regret a penny spent. The whole area of Florence is beautiful and I'm so glad of the experience. Tickets bought through Headout were easy .... except transferring the online tickets to physical ones at Accademia was not that easy to follow. That could have been us though!

Smooth cancellation. To be honest, I can’t really write anything about this experience itself, because I canceled out of fear that I might get sick from climbing the stairs in extremely high temperatures. Since the heat didn’t become apparent until we were already in Florence, I canceled late, but still within the cancellation period. My cancellation was accepted immediately, and I received a prompt refund. Kudos for that! I’ve had difficulties with other providers.

Super easy process to navigate! We got right into the Uffizi with the digital tickets, and the office to pick up the physical tickets for the Accademia was a few feet up the road from the entry point. What's not allowed

Large bags, backpacks, and umbrellas must be left in the free cloakroom near the entrances of Accademia and Uffizi Galleries. Please note there’s no cloakroom at Florence Duomo.

Flash photography, outside food and drink, drones, and pets (except service animals with advance notice) are not allowed at any of the three sites.

Accessibility

Both the Uffizi and Accademia Galleries are wheelchair and stroller accessible, with facilities to accommodate visitors with mobility needs.

An accessible entrance is located on the right side of the Florence Duomo for guests with motor disabilities. The dome climb is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with motor disabilities.

Additional information

No re-entry is allowed once you exit either gallery.

On the first Sunday of every month, the Uffizi offers free entry during normal opening hours.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at the Accademia.

The Florence Duomo is open from Monday to Saturday between 10:15am and 3:45pm, and closed on Sundays and during religious celebrations.
