Join a standard group weaving workshop in Sidi Mokhtar with the women’s cooperative and create your own piece to take home.

Getting started

Arrive in Sidi Mokhtar and make your way to the women’s cooperative where the weaving workshop takes place. After a brief introduction to the space, you are shown to the looms and wool materials set up for your session. Once everyone in the standard group workshop format is settled, the weavers explain the process and your hands-on weaving session begins.

What to expect

Weaving workshop with the women of Sidi Mokhtar

This is a single-location, hands-on activity inside the women’s cooperative in Sidi Mokhtar. You spend your time learning how wool is prepared and woven, then use a traditional loom to create a piece that you will finish during the session.

Features

• Watch the weavers of the women’s cooperative demonstrate how the wool is spun, dyed, and set on the loom, so you see each step before you try it yourself.
• Take part in a hands-on weaving session where you sit at a loom, follow their guidance, and gradually build up your own woven pattern.
• Use all wool and loom materials provided by the cooperative, so you can focus on weaving without bringing any equipment.
• Keep your woven piece to take home at the end of the session, a tangible reminder of your time with the women of Sidi Mokhtar.
• Share traditional Moroccan tea, often referred to as mint tea, during a short break, giving you time to talk with the weavers and your small group of up to 10 guests.
• Receive souvenir photos and enjoy that these are included, along with wool, looms, guidance, mint tea, and your woven piece, as part of the standard group workshop session.

Wrapping up

When the workshop finishes and you have your woven piece, you can say goodbye to the women of Sidi Mokhtar and make your own arrangements for onward travel, since transport to and from Sidi Mokhtar is not included.
