Getting started

Arrive at the cooperative and check in for your Standard Group Weaving Workshop with Cooperative Artisan Guidance. You meet the Berber cooperative weaver, who introduces the traditional loom setup and wool materials. After a brief explanation of the session flow, you move to your loom station so the hands-on weaving can begin.

What to expect

Traditional Berber weaving workshop

This traditional Berber weaving workshop centers on learning and practicing age-old techniques at a cooperative run by local artisans. In a small group of up to 15 guests, you progress from basic setup to creating your own woven piece on a traditional loom.

Features

• Guided by a Berber cooperative weaver, you work on a traditional Berber loom and see exactly how patterns and motifs are counted and built up row by row. The artisan explains each step so you understand how the design grows under your hands.
• All wool and loom materials are provided for this standard group workshop format, so you can focus fully on hands-on weaving at the traditional loom without bringing any supplies.
• As you complete your project, you create a woven piece to take home, plus you receive a gift from the cooperative, and souvenir photos are included to document your time at the loom.
• During the session, traditional Moroccan tea is served, with mint tea and water also available, giving you a short break between weaving stages while you watch other participants at work.
