What to expect

Galleria Spada

Housed inside the 16th-century Palazzo Capodiferro, Galleria Spada is known for its intimate rooms and dense picture displays that reflect a 17th-century collecting style.

Features

• Your ticket includes entry to Galleria Spada, giving you access to its full collection and spaces without a guided tour so you can move through the galleries in your own order.
• The galleries present a renowned collection of Baroque paintings, with works by Guido Reni, Guercino, Orazio Gentileschi, Artemisia Gentileschi, Titian, Parmigianino, and Jan Brueghel arranged in close salon-style hangs.
• One of the key highlights is Francesco Borromini's illusionistic Colonnade, or Perspective, where a carefully engineered sequence of columns creates an optical effect that alters your sense of depth.
• Rooms are scaled like a 17th-century picture gallery, with an intimate and reserved setting that encourages you to spend time up close with individual canvases and compare different Baroque styles side by side.
