Based on the 1998 film of the same name, Strictly Ballroom The Musical follows a champion ballroom dancer and his unlikely partner as they move to change the status quo in the world of ballroom dance.

Why Watch Strictly Ballroom The Musical

This musical is a remake of the highly celebrated Australian classic, Strictly Ballroom, written by Baz Luhrmann. Most reviewers applaud the musical for its impressive dance performances and comic elements. At the core of the musical is the defiance of norms and traditions. Together with the young talent on the stage, the musical makes for a very entertaining performance, especially for those who enjoy watching dance.

The Story

The story follows a young ballroom champion, Scott Hastings, who gets in trouble with the community for daring to dance his own way. Soon, he gets partnered with Fran, who has just begun to learn to dance, and together they attempt to defy ballroom traditions. Scott’s challenges with his family, with a long history of ballroom dancers, and his refusal to dance with anyone but Fran only add to his trials and defiance.
