This tour is possibly the best organized tour I have been on. The bus was in very good condition and we had enough time to explore all the stops on the tour. I have fond memories of that day!

Classic! Just as the name suggests. I couldn't give it any suggestions to make the trip any better!

The South Coast of Iceland is an amalgamation of all the forces of nature at work. From glaciers, waterfalls and beaches to volcanoes, mountains and lagoons, the south coast has it all. Situated quite close to the capital, Reykjavik, one can easily visit some of the famous spots on a day trip. The Hengill volcanoes cover nearly 100 square kilometers in area. Although they are considered active, there has not been an eruption for nearly 2000 years. It acts as a crucial source of energy for southern Iceland, with the Nesjavellir and Hellisheidi power stations located in its vicinity.

The Vik village, situated about 180 kilometres from Reykjavik, is encompassed by valleys, cliffs, mountains and beaches. Being a popular tourist stop, a number of cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops exist. Skógafoss Waterfall is almost 200 feet in height. Legend has it that a chest filled with gold and riches is hidden behind the waterfall!

Your tour will begin from the lava fields, right next to Hengill, an active volcano. Vast farmlands can be seen at the base of these mountains. On some clear days, you can even catch sight of the Hekla Volcano and the ice capped Eyjafjallajökull Volcano, which is located almost 130 kilometers away! Across the ocean, you can see the Westman Islands, a set of volcanic archipelagos that are mostly uninhabited by humans.

The Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach seems to be out of a magazine. The sight of the Atlantic waves crashing on the black sands and the massive basalt caves and columns is breathtaking. Next up is a visit to the village of Vik. Here, you can understand the life of people in the remote locations of Iceland. With just 291 inhabitants, the fishing village is a picture of peace and harmony, away from the bustle and crowd of a city. The red roofed church is something you must visit when you are here.

Last, but not the least is a visit to the towering Skógafoss Waterfall. A set of stairs lead you to one of the most striking views of glaciers, mountains and beaches. You will then stop at another of the numerous Icelandic waterfalls, the Seljalandsfoss. A hidden pathway can be found behind it. Watching the setting sun from the behind the cascading waters is a truly ethereal experience. The sounds of the water crashing down is deafening. On sunny days, you could even catch sight of a rainbow that has formed in the watery spray.
