A bus ride will take you all the way to Velke Popovice, where the Kozel Brewery is located. A small town, with a population of about 2500, Velke Popovice is situated about 28 kilometres from the meeting point. After a short ride through the picturesque city of Prague, you will reach the brewery.
Housed in the same building since its inception in 1874, the Kozel Brewery is surrounded by gardens and a spacious courtyard. You will be led by the guide through the courtyard to the historic building where the first Kozel Beer was brewed. Learn the process of brewing one of the most exceptional tasting beers in all of Europe in a special room that methodically explains the entire procedure. You will see some of the unique ingredients used to make this beer in the brewery cellars. The history of the Kozel Brewery can be understood looking at the multitude of photos throughout the rooms. You will find out the story of how the Ringhoffer family came to acquire the brewery and its journey over the next 140 years.
A complimentary sample of the unfiltered and unpasteurized beer from a uniquely shaped tap awaits. Then, you will visit the room where the bottling and barrelling are done. Beer labels, shipping and loading of the famed Kozel beer can be seen here. At the Kozel gift shop, you can pick up some souvenirs for yourself or your friends and relatives to remind yourself of the visit to this legendary brewhouse. By metro: Take the metro line B to Republic Square. Walk on Na Příkopě for about 400m. You will see your destination on the right.
Take the metro line A to Mustek. Walk around 450m north to reach Na Příkopě. The destination will be on your left.
By tram: Take tram 6,8,15 or 26 to Republic Square. Walk on Na Příkopě for about 400m. Your destination should be on the right.
