Went with my partner and honestly, was way cooler than I thought. The pick up was right on time (shoutout to our driver Lars for being suuuper chill about my coffee spill in the van, sorry again). The tunnel felt like stepping into another planet—cold, damp, a little spooky in parts but the guide made us laugh so much. They turned off all the lights at one point and I swear I've never felt DARKNESS like that before. My bf tried to scare me but tripped on a rock instead (he's fine, just bruised his ego). Only thing is you gotta wear these helmets that make you look a bit dorky in pics, but hey, safety first. Also, if you’re tall, mind your head! Would do again.

Came solo, booked last min and still got a spot. Bus was comfy, wifi worked (sorta slow tho). Guide gave out helmets + flashlights and kept the group moving. Tunnel itself – wild colors on the walls, lots of drippy bits. I wish we had maybe 20 more mins inside, felt a bit rushed esp when everyone wanted tunnel selfies. Still, learned loads about lava + volcanoes. Bring gloves, the rocks are CHILLY.

Went with my parents. The pick up was super punctual. Our guide handed out torches and helmets, and cracked jokes about trolls living in the dark. The tunnel is HUGE in some spots, like you could fit a bus. Some cool ice formations too. There was a weird echo spot where my dad kept making weird noises, lol. Recommend for families!

Took my two teens and they actually liked it (rare win for me as a dad). The guide answered a million questions and didn’t get annoyed. The part where they shut off the lights—my son thought it was EPIC! Only minus: my daughter slipped a bit on the wet floor, so wear good shoes. Otherwise, amazing half-day trip from Reykjavik.

This was a highlight of my trip! Our guide, Jonas, made the science bits really fun. I was nervous at first (hate caves) but it’s actually really open inside, not scary at all. The silence when the lights went out was UNREAL. If you’re into photos, try to hang back at the end so you get shots without people in them. 10/10.

Honestly, the lava tunnel tour was cool but not, like, life-changing. Got picked up at 9am, back by noon. The guide, Olaf, was friendly. I got a bit claustrophobic when everyone bunched up near the narrow part, but it passed. Liked the science-y bits! Would’ve loved more time for photos, but still solid morning trip.
