The Louvre is wonderful, packed with the most amazing collection of paintings, sculptures, artefacts etc but it is VERY difficult navigating your way around. The signage and the floor plan are hopelessly inadequate and there seem to be too few people around to ask for your help. It's a shame to visit a fantastic place like that and end up wasting time and becoming frustrated by not being able to find your way to where you want to be.

The visit was definitely worthwhile. The museum is very spacious. The time slot from 19 h - 21 h is too short. Very long queues in front of the museum despite having a ticket. We only got in at around 19:25. This meant you could only see the highlights in the museum, which was a shame.

The evening visit was more convenient for us, as I also had children with me. The Louvre was a huge place and an incredibly beautiful building. There were so many really cool paintings and other art objects. Even the ceilings of the building were very artistic!

So Big and so perfekt place to visit
  • Arriving a few hours before closing gives you ample time to explore, as the last entry is one hour before closing, and seeing the highlights takes at least 2-3 hours.

    What to expect

Start by prioritizing must-see works like the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, or the Winged Victory of Samothrace, as shorter lines and fewer crowds make for a more enjoyable viewing experience. The evening lighting casts a different mood over the artwork, creating a unique perspective compared to daytime visits. If you prefer a thematic approach, focus on specific wings, such as the Egyptian Antiquities or the Renaissance paintings, rather than rushing through multiple sections.

Before leaving, step outside to admire the illuminated glass pyramid and the historic courtyard, offering a stunning view that perfectly caps off your nighttime visit.
