  • Experience sumo traditions in Asakusa through live demonstrations by retired wrestlers, interactive sumo activities, and a premium Japanese meal. The experience is English-guided and includes opportunities for participation and photos.

    Getting started

    Arrive at the Asakusa Sumo Club Annex, where staff will guide you through ticket validation near the entrance. Take your seat and listen to a short introduction by the moderator before the program begins.

    What to expect

    • Watch a geisha dance performance on stage and take photos with the performers.

    • See demonstrations of morning exercises (asa geiko), sumo techniques (kimarite), and a best-of-three match between retired wrestlers.

    • Learn the rules and etiquette of sumo and join a lottery for a chance to challenge a wrestler in the ring.

    • Enjoy chanko-nabe chicken hot pot, A5 wagyu beef sukiyaki, and tempura, with all-you-can-drink beverages included.

    • Take home a framed souvenir photo with wrestlers and geisha, along with a special gift bag.

    Upgrades

    Choose from three seating options to tailor your experience:

    • Rear Seats – Standard sofa seating with a set meal that includes chicken hot pot, beef sukiyaki bento, dessert, and one drink.

    • Business Class – Sofa seating from the second row, offering a closer view of the ring.

    • First Class – Front-row sofa seating for the best view of the performances, plus extra perks including a chanko-nabe hot pot, A5 wagyu sukiyaki and tempura, unlimited drinks, a printed souvenir photo, a special gift set, and a happi coat.

  • What’s not allowed

    • Late vegetarian or vegan meal requests made less than 2 days before the reservation cannot be accommodated.

    • Gluten-free and halal meals are not available.

    • Guests with halal or gluten-free dietary needs may bring their own food, as these options are not provided.

    Additional information

    • This is a fun sumo show for adults and children, different from serious morning practice tours.

    • If there are many applicants for the Sumo Challenge, one representative per group may be chosen or selected by lottery.

    • Souvenir contents may vary depending on the season.

    • Vegetarian and vegan meals must be requested at the time of booking or at least 2 days before the visit; otherwise, a regular meal will be served.

    • Sofa seats or tables may be shared with other guests.
