What to Expect

The Kew Botanical Gardens were set up in 1840, to house the largest and most diverse botanical and mycological collections in the world. Visit the Gardens with these priority access tickets, which will save you the hassle of standing in line for entry. You can then use the time you have saved to explore the vast stretches of gardens, conservatories, art galleries that are contained within the Kew’s sprawling 121 hectares. While you see the sights, you can take your time and smell the roses, water lilies, chocolate trees, and much more!

Far from the madding London crowds, the Kew Gardens grant you a unique opportunity to relax and unwind. Take in deep lungfuls of the fresh air and stroll through the many different attractions of the Gardens, such as the Temperate House, which is the largest Victorian glasshouse in the world and hosts some of the rarest and most vulnerable temperate zone plants from all over the world. You can also see the Temperate Gardens, the orangery with its sweet-smelling citrus trees, the classical brick Kew Palace, and the 18-meter high Treetop Walkway. The Kew Gardens also boasts of two different art galleries, the Marianne North Gallery which displays art from around the world, and the Shirley Sherwood which contains botanical art. There is something for everyone in these beautiful gardens.

Orchid Festival 2020

February 2020 will see the annual Orchid Festival, showcasing the incredible wildlife and culture of Indonesia - a vast archipelago of more than 17,504 islands, including Java, Borneo, Sulawesi, Papua, and Bali. Here, you will be transported to an otherworldly dimension where the sights, smells, and sounds of Indonesia are brought to the mind with beautiful orchid displays. Entry to the festival is included in the ticket price, provided you pre-book a slot at the time of purchasing the ticket.

Know Before You Go

Important Information

  • If you wish to enter the Children's Garden, you'll be allocated a timeslot for a 90-minute session. Timeslots can’t be reserved and will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. During busy periods, you may have to return later in the day to secure a timeslot.
  • Kew Palace, Queen Charlotte’s Cottage and the Pagoda are open for the summer but will close on 30 September 2019
  • During adverse weather conditions, the upper level of The Hive may have to be closed
  • Treehouse Towers has closed for renovations
  • There will be a limited amount of walk-up tickets available on the day. Walk-up Orchids tickets can be collected directly from the Princess of Wales Conservatory and will be subject to availability and queueing.
  • Visitors planning to visit the Orchid Festival without a pre-booked timeslot need to arrive early. It is advisable to avoid weekends and school holidays as long queues for the exhibition are likely.

  • The Kew Gardens are open every day from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
  • The Kew Palace will be open every day from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • Last admission is 1 hour before closing

How to Redeem your Tickets

You will receive an email with your Kew Gardens Priority Entrance mobile voucher shortly. No need to print. After arriving at Kew Gardens Station, head through the underpass towards the Victoria Gate entrance. Look for Lichfield Road, and walk to the Kew. Pass the line on the left and head directly to the entrance. Show your smartphone ticket and you're in.
