Experience the critically acclaimed and terrifying live production of Ghost Stories, as it is all set to return to West End during Halloween, following sell-out runs across the United Kingdom. Combining the best of theatre with the adrenaline rush of the supernatural, Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson have created a production that is all set to take the world by storm!
Why Watch Ghost Stories
Nominated for two Olivier Awards in 2011, Ghost Stories is one of the most highly anticipated shows at West End during this season! With more than a thousand shows performed across the world including China, Germany, Italy, Australia, and Canada, Ghost Stories went on to be adapted into a film in 2017. Creator Andy Nyman reprised his role as the Professor, with renowned actors Alex Lawther and Martin Freeman also taking on lead roles. Nyman, also a prolific actor, has taken numerous roles in plays, films, and television shows. Co-writer Jeremy Dyson is an author, musician, and screenwriter. He has been awarded a Royal Television Society Award and British Academy Television Award for his work on the television series On the Town with the League of Gentlemen.
Ghost Stories attempts to tell audiences that supernatural phenomena do exist, albeit in the minds of people who are riddled by guilt, inadequacy, or the fear of being exposed. The soundtrack, with its rumbles, drips and eerie wails sets the tone of the production perfectly. What the director has done exceptionally well is manipulating the audiences so as to ensure that their senses are heightened. The lighting design is top-notch and adds to the overall spookiness of the setting.
All in all, the central premise of Ghost Stories is that human imagination is the most frightening. Clenched stomachs and bated breaths are bound to follow, and an evening of adrenaline awaits you!
Dr Phillip Goodman is a Professor of Parapsychology and he is all set to deliver a lecture on ghosts and ghost stories. During the lecture, Dr Goodman mentions a particular website that features numerous ghost pictures. He has also held interviews with three different individuals who claim to have experienced a paranormal event. They are a teen driver, a night watchman, and a businessman awaiting the birth of his first child.
The interviews are played back, with Dr Goodman delving into the details of each story. Is there an underlying factor that is common across all the stories that tie them together? Is the Professor just a narrator in these incidents, or does he have a bigger and more mysterious role?
