SoloVerified booking2 weeks ago4/5The journey along the coast was lovely and Sounian is magnificent. I visited it nearly 60 years ago when there were no crowds and probably no restaurant. You could walk into the temple then and it was free. The visit was marred slightly by the misleading information on the pickup time. I got to the Plaka stop at 4.15 as directed on your website and was told the bus was not due to arrive until 5pm - it arrived nearer 5.15 That meant waiting under a hot sun for an hour. Please update your website with the correct information.CCarolina M
SoloVerified booking3 weeks ago4/5Very nice trip to Sounio, driving along the coast and seeing many nice places. Once arrived at the temple of Poseidon, the view is very nice and one can roam around a bit and shoot wonderful pictures. Majority of the time though you spend in the bus, to reach and to come back from Sounio. I was glad I could book the tour last-minute, even though the instructions about the meeting point where not clear and, sometimes, contradictory. Overall quite satisfied, I'd recommend it if you have 1-2 days stay over in Athens.EEmma S
SoloVerified bookingLast week5/5Really nice spot to see the sunset even though a little crowd. I was afraid that if I took the 16:30 trip wouldnt see the sunset, but the trip is all organised to wait till sunset is finished (You will save some time if you take the following trips and still see the sunset). Really nice guides (also spanish speakers).MMark B
GroupVerified bookingJun 20265/5Watching the sunset from the Temple of Poseidon was a wonderful experience. It was a real change of scenery and very relaxing. The bus was air-conditioned, the audio guide provided by the company helped us better understand various historical aspects, and the guide shared some pretty interesting information with us.JJose Y
CoupleVerified bookingLast week5/5The trip to Sounion is lovely; you pass some beautiful beaches along the way. When we arrived, we climbed up to the temple, and the views were spectacular. There aren't nearly as many ruins as there are at the Acropolis, but the site itself at sunset is absolutely breathtaking.
Your tour will begin at the Halandri Metro station in Athens. You will meet your tour guide aboard the air-conditioned tour bus. You will reach the cape just in time to catch the enchanting sunset. Your guide will tell you several intriguing facts and myths about Cape Sounion. It’s interesting to note that Sounion is also mentioned in Homer’s legendary epic, The Odyssey.
The Temple of Poseidon was a popular destination for famous poets and writers from across the world. The English poet Lord Byron is said to have left his signature on the temple marble nearly two centuries ago. Once you are done exploring the temple, spend a few tranquil moments on the coast, watching the sun disappear below the horizon. On your way back, you can visit the Athens Riviera and walk along the promenade. Several of the charming waterfront cafes are certainly worth a visit.
