  • Step into the sacred world of sumo and experience Japan’s national sport up close. Watch live training, meet wrestlers, try basic moves, and share a traditional chanko-nabe meal in an authentic sumo stable.

    Getting started

    • Meet your local guide just outside the ticket gate at Shin-Kawasaki Station, in front of Kiyoken (Shumai Shop).

    • Please arrive 10 minutes early for check-in and group assembly.

    • Carry a valid photo ID for verification. Tickets are validated on-site by the guide before entering the stable.

    What to expect

    Kawasaki Sumo Stable

    • Watch real sumo wrestlers train up close in a live practice session.

    • Learn about sumo’s connection to Shinto traditions and samurai discipline.

    • Try basic sumo moves and, if you wish, challenge a rikishi in a friendly match.

    • Cook chicken dumplings with wrestlers and enjoy chanko-nabe — the same meal that fuels champions.

    Wrapping Up

    The tour ends back at Shin-Kawasaki Station, with convenient access to Tokyo Station (20 mins) or Shinjuku Station (30 mins) — ideal for continuing your day of sightseeing.

    • Keep in mind that outside food and drinks, tripods, and large baggage are not allowed. Pack wisely!

    • Shutterbugs, take note: Flash photography is a no-go inside the venue.
