Getting started

Arrive at the cooperative located near Essaouira and check in for your scheduled cooking class. You first meet the women of the cooperative, who explain the flow of the 2-hour cooking workshop. After a brief introduction to the workspace and ingredients, you move to your station, ready to start preparing Moroccan tagine and traditional bread from scratch.

This hands-on session takes place inside a local women’s cooperative near Essaouira. Across two hours, you prepare a full Moroccan tagine and traditional bread, then sit down to eat the dishes you have cooked together.

Features

• The women of the cooperative guide you through each step of the two-hour cooking session, from preparing the Moroccan tagine to shaping and baking traditional Moroccan bread. Their guidance in Arabic, French, or English helps you follow techniques and ask questions comfortably.
• All ingredients and equipment are provided on site, so you only need to focus on learning and participating. You handle the fresh components for the Moroccan tagine and the dough for the traditional bread preparation yourself.
• A shared meal of the dishes you cook, with a drink, concludes the workshop, giving you time to taste your tagine and bread along with the rest of the group. The shared meal, prepared food, and drink are included as part of this Cooking Class + Shared Meal variant.
• A bracelet handmade at the cooperative is given to you at the end of the session as a small keepsake of your visit. You also receive a souvenir photo, which captures your time in the kitchen during the tagine and Moroccan bread class.

Wrapping up

When the shared meal finishes and you have received your bracelet and souvenir photo, the experience at the cooperative ends, and you are free to make your own transport arrangements back from the location 27 km outside Essaouira.
