We booked the evening architecture cruise with First Lady Cruises through Headout and it ended up being one of the best parts of our Chicago trip. From the second we got to the dock, everything was organized, easy to find, and ran smoothly. Boarding was quick, the staff was friendly, and the boat itself was super clean and comfortable. We got there a little early so we were able to grab great seats on the top deck, and the views were honestly unreal the entire ride. Seeing Chicago from the river at sunset and into the night was incredible. The skyline reflections on the water, all the different architecture, and the way the city lights slowly came on made the whole experience feel really special. The guide was also amazing — they made the tour interesting the whole time and explained the history of the buildings in a way that was actually fun to listen to instead of sounding scripted or boring. Even if you’re not super into architecture, the views alone make it worth it. One of my favorite parts was going out toward the lake and seeing the skyline all together from the water. It looked absolutely insane in person and made for some of the best pictures from the trip. The ride felt relaxing the whole time, and it was a perfect way to end the night after walking around downtown all day. Booking through Headout was easy and straightforward too. Tickets showed up right away, directions were clear, and everything matched exactly how it was described. Overall this was 100% worth it and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Chicago, especially if it’s your first time there. Easily a 5-star experience from start to finish.

I shared the Chicago at Night cruise with my 13-year-old son, and we both absolutely loved it. Learning about the engineering behind the Chicago River, the lock system, and the city’s incredible architecture was fascinating. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, engaging, and entertaining, making the history and engineering come alive. We also captured stunning photos of the sunset over the skyline, which made the experience even more memorable. I highly recommend this cruise to anyone visiting Chicago!
