Taking my mother from India on the Chicago Architecture Cruise was one of the sweetest memories we made during her visit. One of the highlights of my visit to Chicago was the Chicago Architecture River Cruise by Shoreline. The 90-minute guided tour offered a unique perspective of the city's world-renowned skyline while cruising through all three branches of the Chicago River. The guide provided fascinating insights into the history, design, and engineering behind some of Chicago's most iconic buildings, including the Willis Tower, Marina City, and the Wrigley Building. The combination of stunning views, engaging storytelling, and Chicago's rich architectural heritage made this experience both educational and enjoyable. I would highly recommend this cruise to anyone visiting Chicago, whether for the first time or as a returning traveler.

The captains were very informative and the 7:30 cruise was perfect for seeing the architecture in the daylight as well as getting the night time views. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Chicago and would happily do it again!

What to bring

Credit card for onboard purchases (no cash accepted).

Light layers or sun/rain protection, especially for boats with open upper decks.

Camera or smartphone for capturing skyline views.

What's not allowed

Outside food and beverages are not permitted on board.

Motorized or oversized wheelchairs are not allowed on most ramps and boats.

Accessibility

Architecture River Tour dock at Navy Pier is wheelchair accessible (for narrow-base wheelchairs only).

Michigan Avenue dock is not wheelchair accessible.

Some boats have restrooms on lower decks that are not accessible due to lack of elevators.

Upper decks are open-air with minimal weather protection.

Additional information

Life jackets are available but will only be distributed in an emergency.

Tours follow local, state, and federal health and safety guidelines.

Most boats are double-decker; some have partial overhead cover, while a few have no cover at all.

Restrooms are available onboard.
