    Getting started

    Arrive at the Kyoto Handicraft Center (West Building) and take the elevator to the 2nd floor, where you’ll spot the “MEET MAIKO” welcome sign. After check-in, English-speaking staff will introduce the session and provide a brief overview before inviting the Maiko to the stage.

    What to expect

    This experience offers a rare opportunity to interact with a Maiko, Kyoto’s apprentice Geisha, who embodies centuries-old Japanese performing arts and hospitality. You’ll witness her refined dance, learn about her intricate attire, and gain insight into her daily life and training.

    What’s not allowed

    • Large bags, suitcases, and oversized luggage are not allowed inside the venue for security reasons.

    • Pets are not permitted, except for registered service animals.

    • Outside food and drinks are not allowed inside the venue.

    • The venue is accessible by wheelchair and stroller. The place is suitable for visitors with limited mobility.

    • This is not a private experience; you will join other guests (maximum capacity is 30).

    • Reception opens 30 minutes before show time. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the event.

    • Seating is unassigned; all participants can be seated.

    • Photography is allowed during the event.

    • Children aged 0–2 can join free of charge if they do not occupy a separate seat.

    • Transportation, meals, and drinks are not included.

    • Taxis are difficult to catch, and city buses are crowded in Kyoto during high season; please allow extra travel time to reach the venue.
