We had a wonderful time on this tour of Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens. I went with my two adult children, and it was a very enjoyable experience for all of us. Our guide, Alexandra (Allie), was friendly, knowledgeable, and shared plenty of interesting information throughout the tour. We toured both the palace and the beautiful gardens and also had time to stop for a snack at the outdoor café, which was a nice addition to the day. The skip-the-line access made everything easy and efficient. I would highly recommend this tour. It was well organised, informative, enjoyable, and definitely worth the price.

These tickets were actually bought by mistake. Arriving at Schönbrunn, I realized I couldn't exchange them, so we waited at the meeting point as instructed. Everything was clearly explained, and the mistake was completely on me. As it turns out, it was a blessing in disguise! Michael was a great guide—thank you! Without him and the group ticket (which grants access to the entire palace), we would've seen less than 20% of what we did. It was wonderful!

The gentleman who served as our guide (whose name, unfortunately, I don’t remember) was extremely knowledgeable and very engaging, sharing facts along with amusing anecdotes. I’d like to add—since I can’t remember the guide’s name due to the language barrier—that he’s a German man who moved to Austria for love, as he himself told us.

It was a pretty nice tour of Sisi's palace—no need to hold onto your bag since there's a free coat check on site! The audio guide, on the other hand, gets a little confused at first because it detects a specific area, but the problem arises when you enter a room where there are four of them!

This August was extremely hot in Schönbrunn. Great artwork and antiques were shown and explained thoroughly, but the government should be ashamed for not installing climate controls for cooling and humidity. It's imperative to protect the longevity of the priceless treasures and provide comfort for visitors ! For the first history lesson, seating should be provided for the elders. Even fans would have made a difference in 40C heat! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful so no negative reflection on him.

Meeting the guide was challenging. She had no sign or flag. She was holding an iPad with the name of the tour company in pale letters. That made it hard to find her. The tour was fine after that except that 5 members of the group were dressed in outlandish costumes that invited other tourists to photogrpah them throughout the tour. For practical purposes, the tour was about them.

Accessibility

This tour is not suitable for wheelchair users. Some historic State Rooms can only be accessed by stairs, and step-free routes are not available.

Additional information

Book tickets online 2 to 3 weeks ahead to avoid long waits, especially during peak seasons such as summer, Easter, and Christmas.

Your meeting point will depend on your ticket type and will be stated in your booking confirmation. It will be either the Group Center, the Ehrenhof Fountain (look for the green umbrella), or the Arrival Center at HOHO Bus Stop 30.

Arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the start time, as late arrivals cannot join.

Tours operate in a single language chosen at the time of booking.

Group sizes are capped at 25 guests to ensure a more personal experience.

Personal audio devices with headphones are provided, though you may bring your own with a 3.5 mm jack.

The gardens, main courtyard, fountains, Great Parterre, Roman Ruin, and public paths are open to visitors during park hours.

In extreme weather, the garden visit may be replaced. Between November 8 and January 6, a local Christmas Market visit is offered instead.

The Privy Garden, Orangery Garden, Maze, Labyrinth, and Gloriette viewing terrace require separate tickets and close 30 to 45 minutes before the palace (between 3:30 pm and 6 pm depending on the season).

The Group Center near the main gate offers free lockers, baby changing facilities, accessible toilets, and an ATM.
