I was running late to visit the Sagrada Familia when a fellow tourist at my hostel suggested I book tickets to the church through Headout to beat the two-hour ticket queue. It took me some time to book a ticket on their website, but I immediately received a confirmation email on my phone. Luckily, I reached on time to comfortably explore Antoni Gaudi’s spectacular creation. The Gothic and Art Nouveau façade has an equally beautiful interior with intricate architecture and stained glass windows. Access to the three facades (Nativity, Passion and Glory) wasn’t included in my ticket. But I could admire their architecture from outside. Every corner of this UNESCO world heritage site is beautiful, which explains the sea of visitors this unfinished church attracts daily.Camille

Buying tickets on site is extremely frustrating- not only are you not guaranteed the purchase of the ticket, but the queues are so long- I would recommend buying them online. I get mine from HeadoutDolores

Spiritual artistry
Make your way to one of Barcelona’s most popular attractions of all time, the Sagrada Familia, for a day of sightseeing, learning, and fun. Walk right into the basilica without waiting in line, thanks to your fast-track tickets. Before you head into the inner sanctum, spend some time studying the Nativity Facade, Glory Facade, and Passion Facade. The Nativity Facade depicts Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, the wise men, and the shepherds. In contrast, the Passion Facade features a snake behind Judas to symbolize evil, while the Glory Facade represents eternal bliss and heavenly glory.
Experience Gaudi’s vision
Then, move into the basilica and find yourself in a concrete forest featuring tree-like pillars that draw inspiration from giant sequoias. Trace the path of the columns to the vaulted ceiling decked with star-shaped patterns and stained glass. As you make your way through, observe how the colorful stained glass windows create different patterns of light, setting the mood for each section of the basilica. Don’t miss out on the crypt, which houses Gaudi’s remains, and the museum, which gives insight into his personal life and creative process.
