If you love all things animal, this is a place you must visit at least once! I spent almost an entire day at the Perth zoo. The animals and the gardens were a nice change from the city routine. Pros - I had booked online tickets, so thankfully I did not have to wait long to enter the zoo. - Good COVID safety measures are in place. There are also multiple hygiene stations across the zoo. - The exhibits and enclosures are quite spacious. - The staff members were friendly and seemed to really know their stuff. I joined a free crocodile talk as I am a huge croc nerd, but even so I got to know some interesting new facts. - I did not book one, but the zoo also has a close encounter program that allows you to watch your favorite animals up close. - If you are planning a family visit, the zoo offers plenty of parenting facilities including changing and feeding stations. There is also a well-maintained playground and a carousel for your kids to enjoy. Cons - Some animals like the pygmy python and the ring-tailed lemur were off-display. However, there are plenty of other species that I enjoyed watching. - The Zoo restaurant and BBQ are closed, but there are many food trucks. I felt that some of them were a bit pricey, but you are allowed to bring your own food and have a picnic on the grounds. - I went on a Sunday, so the zoo was a bit crowded with families. But the walking paths are quite wide so that distance can be maintained. Tips - Book your ticket on the app, as it can take a long time to get your tickets in-person. - The grounds are fairly large, so make sure you plan your visit early so that you can cover the majority of it. - Some of the animals can take a little time before they show themselves, so remember to be patient. All in all, I had a great time. Would definitely visit again to meet the animals I missed out on this time.

We had booked our tickets here, but were worried that we would still have to wait in line at the zoo. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case! Had a great time watching the animals. The enclosures and exhibits are spacious and the animals also look well-cared for.

Wonderful zoo. A bit disappointed that the cafe and BBQs were closed, but there were many food trucks with plenty of cuisine options. Good COVID safety measures as well.

A day well spent! I went with my wife and kids, and they absolutely loved all the animals. Plan to start out early as there is a lot of ground to cover.

The zoo grounds were beautiful, but sadly at the time of my visit some animals were very difficult to spot. I enjoyed watching the ones I did see, and joined a free keeper talk. They were very forthcoming about the information, we learned a lot of interesting bull elephants and crocodiles. Would love to visit again someday.
  • From the growling lion to the smiling quokka, from the colossal elephant to the minuscule splendid tree frog, get ready to spend a fantastic day with some of the Earth’s most fascinating creatures!

Spread over 41 acres, it takes at least half a day to enjoy the zoo in all its glory. Watch the Asian greats like the female elephants, the stately Sumatran tigers, gibbons, and the Komodo dragon in their element at the Asian Rainforest. Acquaint yourself with the wild denizens of Africa including giraffes, hyaena, meerkats, and rhinoceros at the African Savannah.

You can not only learn about and get close to the animals, but also bring your own picnic and enjoy a relaxed, scrumptious meal on the scenic grounds (with some restrictions on alcohol consumption).

    More Than a Zoo
