I've seen several aquariums in different parts of the world, but the Lisbon Oceanarium is the best and most beautiful. I love its architecture—it's like an island in the sea—and the main tank, around which the entire tour revolves, is simply mind-blowing. I could spend hours and hours just sitting there watching the fish. The "Cabecito" is absolutely gorgeous, and it's not only the main aquarium is worth seeing—all the other aquariums are spectacular as well.

Instead of rushing from one exhibit to another, you naturally slow down and find yourself standing in front of the enormous central tank, completely mesmerized. I must have spent more time there than I planned—and I didn’t regret a single minute. What makes this place special isn’t just the impressive collection of marine life. It’s the feeling it creates. I visited the Oceanário with my family recently, and it left a lasting impression on all of us. It’s not just a beautiful place to see incredible marine life, it’s genuinely healing. The cable car experience was absolutely delightful! The oceonarium is certainly the best one we've visited across the countries we've been too. The only problem is too many visitors, which sometimes makes it hard to see everything in detail. Buying tickets via headout was easy and I recommend this combo experience to everyone.

The Regaleira Palace is incredible. Its history and gardens are spectacular. The National Palace would be even better if they offered a short guided tour included with the admission. Plus, it was under construction.

National Palaces

The two palaces sit 4km from each other, and have distinct identities. Pena Palace on the Portuguese Riviera, stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains above the town of Sintra. The palace and its surrounding gardens have unique aesthetics, representing 19th century Romanticism. The Palace of Sintra is much older, and serves as a present-day historic house museum. Being inhabited for nearly 8 centuries, the palace is filled to the brim with stories and legends of age-old monarchs.
