Just got back from the tour and honestly, still buzzing. Our guide, Simo, picked us up right on time (even though I was late out of the lobby, oops). We drove for a while—felt like a real arctic roadtrip, snow everywhere. First spot was so-so, cloudy, but Simo kept saying 'patience!' and wow, was he right. Next stop, BOOM, the sky exploded in greens and pinks. Even my grumpy teen daughter was smiling. Simo had hot berry juice for us and snapped loads of pics (his camera is like, MAGIC compared to my phone). Cold? Yes, toes like ice, but worth every second. I’d say wear TWO pairs of socks. Would do this again in a heartbeat.

I went solo, met a few other travelers and we all bonded over waiting in the freezing dark for the aurora. Felt a bit like camping but with more anticipation. Our guide Kati was so enthusiastic—she’d shout 'there!' and point, and we’d all scramble out. Lights came and went, sometimes strong, sometimes faint, but the whole chase was half the fun. The van was warm, thank god, but my camera battery died early (rookie mistake). Kati shared her photos after. HIGHLY recommend but charge ur gear!

Northern Lights were out but it was kinda crowded...felt like every tour in town was there at the 1st spot. Later we split off and found a quieter place. Guide (can’t remember his name, sorry) was super chill and kept checking the sky, so we didn’t miss anything. Pics turned out pretty coool, but my feet are still thawing out. Heads up: bring snacks, nothing provided except warm drinks.

Ok so the lights were not super bright the night we went, which is nobody’s fault but still a lil disappointing. Guide tried hard tho, drove us out super far from the city. Group was friendly, but felt rushed sometimes, like just quick stops and then back in the van. Hot chocolate was nice touch. If ur set on seeing the lights, be ready for some luck factor.

Family trip with two kids (ages 10 and 13). The guides made sure the kids were having fun, even when it got late. They handed out marshmallows to roast at the fire while we waited. Saw the lights after about 2 hours of searching—totally worth it. My youngest kept shouting 'it’s magic!' Would recommend for families, but bring snacks for picky eaters.
