We had an absolutely wonderful experience at this husky sledding event and can wholeheartedly recommend it. From the very beginning, everything was perfectly organized — the schedule was clear, the tour started right on time, and the entire process ran smoothly without any stress. What truly stood out, though, was the incredible warmth and friendliness of both the tour guides and the staff at the husky farm. They made everyone feel welcome and created a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere throughout the experience. During the tour, we were told many fascinating stories — not only about the dogs and the farm itself, but also about life in Rovaniemi. It was clear that the guides were passionate and knowledgeable, which made the experience even more engaging and authentic. Most importantly to me, it was evident that the health and well-being of the dogs come first. This did not feel like a typical tourist attraction at all. The way the staff interacted with the animals showed genuine care and respect, and it was reassuring to see that the dogs are treated responsibly and ethically. All in all, a truly memorable and meaningful experience — not just exciting, but also heartfelt and informative.

Amazing animals—an amazing experience. The ride (we actually got to drive ourselves) was very long and took us through a truly beautiful area. We also got the impression that the dogs were very comfortable there.

A once in a lifetime experience! Would recommend anyone that likes dogs even if it's a little bit to do it. And I believe the 45-60 min range is perfect. For each sled is two people and you'll drive the half of it. The road is beautiful and the team and the guides incredibly friendly. To finish it off you'll get some gingerbread cookies and some warm juice which is delicious! 10/10 day

There were many husky dogs and they are very acrive. The ride was a long ride into a white snowy forest. Totally a sureal feeling. we enjoyed it very much.

Husky Sledding Experience

The husky ride: The heart of the experience is the sled ride itself. Depending on the tour you choose, you might enjoy a short introductory 800m ride, a 5km guided safari, or a longer self-driven journey of up to 10km through frozen forests and snowy trails. On self-drive tours, you’ll share a sled with another adult, taking turns as driver and passenger. For those who prefer to sit back and relax, guided rides are also available.

Meet the huskies: After the ride, you’ll have time to meet the huskies, take photos, and learn more about their lives as sled dogs. Friendly and energetic, the dogs love attention and are eager for cuddles. Your guide will share stories about their training, daily routines, and the long history of huskies in Lapland culture.

Comfort and refreshments: To keep warm, you’ll be served hot drinks and light snacks, such as biscuits or Fazer chocolate, often inside a cozy kota or around a fire. Small-group sizes ensure a relaxed, personal experience where you can ask questions and take your time with the dogs.

A tour for everyone: With multiple variants to choose from, short and family-friendly or longer and adventurous, there’s an option to suit every traveler. No matter which you select, everything is taken care of. Transfers, winter clothing, guiding, and refreshments are included, so you can simply enjoy your time with the huskies.

What to bring

Dress warmly in layers you can move around in, thermals, fleece, or wool work best, and don’t forget thick socks, gloves, and a hat.

Bring protective cases for your camera gear and keep it inside your jacket when not in use to prevent battery drain and condensation issues.

Sunglasses are handy on bright, snowy days, and lip balm will help with the crisp Arctic air.

What's not allowed

For safety reasons, alcohol or joining the tour under the influence is not permitted.

Large luggage and bulky bags can’t be brought along due to limited space in transfers and sleds.

Smoking is not allowed during activities, inside vehicles, or near the animals.

Accessibility

This tour is not wheelchair accessible, as it involves uneven snowy terrain, boarding sleds, and short walks outdoors.

Guests should feel comfortable with light activity in cold conditions.

Infant seats can be arranged on request, but the tour is not recommended for children under 2 years old.

Additional information

Your tour can last anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours, depending on the variant you choose, from short introductory rides to longer self-drive safaris.

Pick-up is included from hotels in Rovaniemi City Center, with a small surcharge for accommodations more than 8 km away. If you’re staying very close to the office, you may be asked to meet there instead.

On self-driven safaris, two adults share a sled: one drives while the other rides, and you’ll have the chance to switch roles during the ride.

Prefer not to drive? Choose a guide-driven tour where you can simply relax and take in the scenery.

Children under 140 cm typically ride in the sled with an adult or with the guide. Very small children will need a parent to ride alongside them for comfort and safety.

Before every self-drive ride, you’ll get a clear safety briefing and instructions, so no experience is required.

Tours run in all weather conditions. For everyone’s safety, routes and timings may be adjusted if snow, ice, or weather makes changes necessary.
